|Ila Sosebee Lark||Dewitt King|
Are you, perhaps, related to Dewitt King? I am researching a person by this name who was born in South Carolina. My searching leads me to Texas and the Find A Grave photos posted by you.
The Dewitt King in our family was a son of Laura Irene Davis King. She was my husband's great grandfather's sister. Information about some of this family has been difficult to find so I am hoping we are talking about the same Dewitt. There are differences in some of the dates but after as many years as have passed those things are bound to have happened.
Thank you ever so much,
Ila Sosebee Lark

Thank you so much for the transfer. I really appreciate it.

You are very welcome, Dianna. I've been in your shoes, so I know how much it means, and also how daunting it can be to find information. I think I found some more info for you. It's only circumstantial, but I think its worth looking into. Pvt Glover is listed as missing on 2 May 1942. On that date, Battery H of the 59th C.A. was stationed on Corregidor Island at a gun emplacement called "Battery Geary". Here's a map showing the location of Geary on Corregidor: http://corregidor.org/chs_army/morton_01.htm#harbordefenses. I also found an account of a catastrophic explosion caused by a Japanese shell making a direct hit on Battery Geary. You can read the account at this web page: http://corregidor.org/ca/btty_geary/geary.htm. Pvt Glover is not mentioned by name, so it is possible there may have been other circumstances around his being being reported as missing. However, I'm inclined to believe that he was one of those who were lost in this incident. Sorry for the long response. All the best to you. Tom H.

You're quite welcome! A very nice Admin. Clerk at the American Battle Monuments Commission named Ronaida April dela Virgen, actually took the photo, I just go through the list of the photo requests and help by claiming and uploading them! If you click on the photo you can see her information! It's always a great honor to help with these requests. My husband's uncle is buried there as well and no one should ever forget their ultimate sacrifice.
