Minnieska Cemeteries
Hi Tom - I see your name a lot of Find A Grave for the Winona area. I, too, enter a lot on Find A Grave and think I have now completed Winona County. In fact, I even wrote a book about Winona County cemeteries and have personally walked all but two which were inaccessible. Any way, back to Minnieska. I remember contacting the person listed to clarify some of the information and she "didn't know" so I entered the memorials as recorded. I would be glad to correct any errors but I need a list by memorial number to ensure I fix the needed memorials and not further mess things up! You can either do that by entering through the Find A Grave "edit" tab or just send me a list of numbers indicating which cemetery is correct to: (I live in St. Charles). Thanks!

Thank you for the transfer of Harvey & Louisa Roper. I am trying to get the memorials that have them buried in Oakwood Cemetery transferred to me so they can be merged. Thanks again, Tom.

Thank you for the photo of his headstone. He was my 3rd cousin once removed and our common ancestors are Ole and Kristi (Sagaard) Williamson from Rogaland, Norway and lived in Webster County, IA.

Thanks a million Tom. I appreciate your efforts to identify Civil War Veteran's memorials as the cost of their lives was a high price. I am so appreciative after years of looking for my relative,Freeman, to now find him.

Many thanks,

Civil War Vets
As I go through several memorials researching families to make links, etc, I see your name and flowers left for many Civil War Veterans, many with non-military markers. I just want you to know your work is very much appreciated. A lot of these fellows would not have their memorials credited with being a Civil War veteran if not for you. Keep up the great work your doing and know that it is very much appreciated!

Addie Frisbey of Lakewood Cemetery
Thank you so much Tom for finding and photographing her marker for me! It solves a little mystery, as she apparently has two markers, one where she died (and is likely buried) and this one, where the family moved after she died.
Incidently, her father Hiram M. Frisbey was a Civil War veteran, drafted while living in Zumbrow, MN as H.M. Frisbey. He is the brother of my ggg grandfather Loton Frisbey.
Do you mind if I use your photo for my research records?

RE: Squire Mazeppa mn
Hi Tom --

Thank you so much! Yes, their son George Henry married Rachel Phillips. If you get over to Mazeppa again some time, would love to have photos of their graves as well.

Interesting story about George and Rachel -- their only son Yale Henry Squire (named after my Great-Great Grandfather, Yale Henry, was a reporter for the Minneapolis Tribune. In April, 1917, he applied for a passport and went to France to join the American Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Instead, he ended up as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army and was an instructor at the 2nd Aviation Training Center. He died in an airplane accident at Fere-en-Tardenois on June 27, 1918 and is buried in the American Cemetery at Oise-Aisne. He was 24 years old.

Again -- I appreciate your efforts on my family's behalf.
