Hello, I live in Northern Indiana and am very interested in the Civil War. One of my hobbies is to visit the graves of Indiana Civil War Soldiers. To date my dad and I have visited over 1,850 cemeteries and have found the gravesites of over 36,200 Indiana Soldiers, as well as some 8,000 soldiers from states other than Indiana. We have also located the gravesites of over 1,700 Confederate soldiers buried in the Hoosier state. I am also trying to find the gravesites of all of Indiana's Civil War Colonels. I am also interested in the 8th Indiana Infantry, Company I, and the 12th Indiana Infantry. I am also looking for every Chaplain that served in an Indiana Regiment in the Civil War. If you know of any gravesites you think I may have missed, or have some interesting information, don't hesitate to contact me. I am also working on a book about Indiana's soldiers that died during the Civil War. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if you are looking for a Hoosier that served in the civil war send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help in any way. Currently, I'm also trying to locate every Civil War veteran in Kosciusko County, Indiana, and upload them to Find-A-Grave. I am also a Christian, and look forward to life after the grave. Thanks.|

I am sorry that the marker photo of Angelton is not better. The lettering is becoming very worn and the afternoon sun put the marker in shadow.

Thank you so much for sending the information about John Lawrence. I've added it to his page. I have a Civil War soldier virtual cemetery if you care to check any of the other soldiers I have listed in Jasper county, Missouri. Just Click Here for the list of 305 names in it.

Don't know if you are interested in the 34th, but here is another civil war soldier buried in Indiana. Find A Grave # 63963756. David Vance, Whicker cemetery

I don't remember the origin of the photo. Since the stone is lying flat, maybe it is now covered with turf. --Rick

I emailed a friend of your interest in Civil War, IN, this is their response. This would be the Owen County Library 812-829-3392. They may be for sale.
From Linda: Dixie (Kline) Richardson did research and published a book (available in the library) concerning burial of civil war persons in the county. Also, another civil war item is that there was a civil war training camp south of Gosport and then was used as a POW site at one time.
Hope this helps,
We are covered in snow and ice & my husband is getting a hip replacement tomorrow, but as soon as I can and the roads/cemetery clear I will do this for you. I will also keep my eyes open for civil war soldiers, esp colonels. I have some civil war relatives so I'll get photos of those to you also. I will put this in my file to do when weather possible. A friend of mine & I plan on updating our county cemetery book this year and her husband is a civil war buff so we may get him involved!
