Just a lady who has always, for some strange reason, enjoyed the stories and the serenity of cemeteries--which in the long run will prove to be a good thing. ;-)

I am happy to transfer memorials to family members or friends of the deceased.

Transfer Memorial
I was wanting to known if you would transfer these two individuals to me. I am assisting in maintaining this cemetery and I have much information to enter on a lot of the people buried there. My find a grave number is 46957321. I truly would appreciate it. The numbers to transfer are 126892956 and 126887317. Thx
Gary!

Yes. You can always REQUEST a photo - then one of the local volunteers who often go out will look up the location and make sure to swing by and get that photo during their visit. Since there are a couple different volunteers working Belcrest, and one of the most active ones has just returned to Salem, it is likely your request would be taken up quite quickly.

The one drawback of working from an index is multiple (same) names listed and you couldn't always tell if they were the same person or a different one if the burial information wasn't listed as well.

Cheers.

Hi. I transcribed a copy of the Belcrest directory of burials. I visit the cemetery every time I return to Salem (it is simply beautiful) but there are other people who are actively working to photograph the stones, section by section. I completed my transcription project about 5 years ago and have not updated it since. I receive regular updates from other volunteers working in the area with dates, connections and they also add photographs to the memorials.

The three other cemeteries in Salem, Oregon, have basically been completed by other volunteers.

If I removed that detail in an edit it was by accident. I am trying to get more specific rather than less specific birth dates / death dates place and family links throughout Pierce County. I am sure your information is right. I try not to send any edits I am not certain on, so keep what you know to be correct. Thank you.

Carricks in Otsego Cemetery
Thank you for transferring the Carricks to me.

I have completed bios, family, etc. (waiting on a couple of edits for parentage on memorials I don't manage.)

I just had 2 issues with them & would like your opinion.

1. Samuel Carrick 76077175. I dropped middle inital.
I found that there were 2 DIFFERENT 1870 US Censuses for this family on FamilySearch. They are in the same hand writing and are NEARLY identical. One gives middle initial as "A" the other as "W". I think the one with "A" is original and "W" a copy done by the census taker. 2nd is missing a couple of entries such as "housekeeper" for other people...Interesting.

2. William Carrick 76077408. Original DOB was 1865. George & Celia had a William born 1875 (after 1875 MN Census). He only appears in 1880 US Census. Checked 1865 MN, 1870 US & later records & could not locate him. I believe this William to be son of George & Celia & changed DOB to 1875.

Thanks,

RE: Nairne, St Matthews
Kendall, was the download you found online for St Matthews for iPad use, or for just any computer? Last time I was in QC (Aug 2008) there was a sign at the entrance to the cemetery/park that mentioned a downloadable tour app for iPad; I managed to get it into my iPhone but it wouldn't run. [I've been meaning to contact them about that(!)] If it's not just for iPad, and you happen to remember 'where' you found it, I'd love to have the link sometime. I have quite a few ancestors and family members whose bones I believe are still resting in the old Protestant grounds, among the many who were not removed to Mount Hermon, and am hoping the app may possibly mention one or two. :D

Hi Kendall,

I appreciate your offer of transferring management of G. W. Carrick # 76075707 & Elizabeth "Betsey" Lovejoy Carrick l# 76075657.

I would like to manage these 2 memorials, I am related to both of them & I have extensive research on them.

Thanks,

Louisa Bowen
Oops, missed a surname before clicking 'send'. The Reverend George Vernon Housman was my 2xGGGF who married Louisa.
