I've always loved old cemeteries and I've always loved words. I think we should honor every soul born by remembering them in whatever way we wish. A day should come when there are no unmarked graves or no unacknowledged lives. Whether by a stone, a tree, or a virtual memorial, all should be remembered.|
I recently walked through a memorial park and saw a small bronze marker memorializing an aborted child. I was deeply moved. We must be selfless and we must not judge. The important story is that this little person existed for a brief time on Earth, and someone acknowledged him.
I went to my first funeral at age six. It was a military funeral for a young cousin. When I was nine, I lost a classmate, and the graves of children have always touched me deeply.
I love animals and want to remember as many pets of my friends & family as I can. To those of us who haven't been blessed, our pets are the closest thing to children that we will ever have.
My sister is the family poet and writes many of the words I send. They are used with permission.
