A Texan's family tree is like a beautiful rose with many fragrant petals, but with any rose, you have thorny branches that needs pruning on occasion....the same goes with families.
Beatitudes of the Family Genealogists:

Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time. Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof. Blessed are the grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this our heritage. Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For some, this is their only link to the past. Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember. Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them who owe the family history. Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love. Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."written by Unknown;

RE: John Spurgeon Jones
I do not have any idea how he died. The death date is correct. It sounds like you have found him. Does it give any other information that I might have like what he did for a living or names of wife or parents. He died so young just 3 years after his marriage to Ada.

His parents were Benjamin and Jane, if this is any help.

RE: Cunningham's also
Tom "Tom" Brazell as you have it written in this genealogy line is not quite correct. Tom was his nickname. His birth name and that which is on his birth certificate is Tracy Halbert Brazell. He was named after his great grandfather Blake Tracy. Tracy for the family surname. Bert wanted a variation of his name in all the boys names so they named first son LEABERT. My dad was HOBERT, "Tom" was HALBERT. The fourth son was BILLY BOB BERT BRAZELL and Granny had a 5th son and she said enough was enough and she was going to name her last son herself without Bert in the name. LOL! She said his birth was such a joy that she was going to name him JOY and after her own middle name Lea, but with the masculine spelling. JOY LEE BRAZELL. Hobert did not die in Tye, Tx. He was in the Hendricks Hospital after suffering a fall that destroyed parts of his brain and he died at Hendricks Hospital in Abilene. He is BURIED in the Tye Cemetery. He lived in Tye but in his later years he moved to Merkel Tx.

RE: Cunningham's also
Hi, I need to mention that on #6 the dates of Elisha Brazell that you have entered in these records you are sharing here are incorrect. Those are dates of my grandfather, Bert Brazell's birth and death dates not Elisha Brazell, his father. I have photo of grave headstone of EJ Brazell and his wife Flora Fenter Brazell who were buried in Johnson cemetery outside of Munday Texas. I attended my great grandmother Flora's funeral but not my great grandfather as I was only 11 at the time of his untimely death. Elisha was born April 26. 1882 and died September 1962 in Abilene Texas.

Yes you may use my father's photo in your genealogy records.

Johnson Station Cemetery
What a lovely thought you left on Sarah J. Strahan Thomas's memorial 11 years ago.

I'm hoping that there is an update you can share, that tells of more respectful treatment of the cemetery.

Best Wishes and thanks for your thoughts.

John T Burrow
Hi Nancy!

You posted this message to my board some time ago (I'm sorry but I've been gone for quite some time due to technical issues or I would have responded sooner):

In need of some help
I have in my tree a John T. Burrow that lived in Bowie Co., Texas. In the information I have his grandmother being a Formby or Fomby. I cant make out any of the names on it and have not found another copy. do you know if your John might be the one I am in search of? Thanks so much for any help.
Nancy Adams

I'm sorry but I can be no help on the matter. I have no clue about John or his relatives at this time. I have lost my GEDCOM records on this computer and my backup info on my external harddrive is lost as well due to being damaged in a move. I don't know if I can recover the files in the future or where I put the thumbdrive that was an additional backup; but once I find my information I might be able to see if there's anything in my GEDCOM info that might help. I think if there was that I would have already put it on the memorial though. Do you have link a link for the grandmother you mentioned? I can put her in my "might be related" section in order to help me keep up with the info and check later once I get my files back in order.

RE: Raleigh George Barker married to Inez Formby
You are correct the spelling of the last name is Barker. That was my mistake many years ago when I did not have the information I have now. It was me who sent you the corrected spelling of the last name yesterday.
