Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am an attorney and court commissioner in Dodge County, Wisconsin. My lovely wife Julie and our kids Philip and Grace (and dog Howie) enjoy exploring cemeteries with me.

Like most of my fellow gravers, I do this to preserve the history of those who came before us and the often beautiful works of art that mark their final resting places - and to make the information more accessible to those who might be searching for it.

My information comes from a variety of sources, including older cemetery transcriptions done by others. Feel free to contact me with corrections, additional information, transfer requests, questions, etc. I'll be happy to help if I can.

RE: Sunnyview Cemetery
I will put this issue on the agenda for the next meeting to see how the Winnebagoland Genealogical Society wants to approach this issue. I thought that seeing you are an attorney you would understand the copyright laws and might have worked with us on this issue.

You could transfer the memorials to myself and I will edit each one. My contributor #46493875.

RE: Sunnyview Cemetery
I understand your reasoning but not all the info in the book has public access.

For example: If you would actually go to the Winnebago County Courthouse and physically view many of these vital records you would find that the place of burial was vague. Sometimes all it said was "Winnebago". Well, was the burial at the Sunnyview Cemetery or at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute? WMHI will NOT answer these questions to the general have to show proof of lineage in order to get an answer.

The pocketbook list we started out with was from the groundskeeper..who took care of both cemeteries so not all the names in his list were at just one cemetery....and many were misspelled. Sometimes it took months to find a certain individual due to the misspelling.

We also used the list compiled by the Guyant's...which all they did was go through death records and wrote down anything that looked like it could be Sunnyview....even all the "Winnebago" locations. Many were missed due to blank burial locations. We didn't skip over the blank locations...we researched until we confirmed whether or not they were in the Sunnyview Cemetery or elsewhere.

Many of the indigent came from other counties throughout WI....our research took us to those counties to find answers as well.

I am not asking you to delete names or dates...I want this info available...I am asking you don't release info that is in the book that you did not research yourself. I have all our research notes...not just public assessible items...I have phone logs, letters, etc. Some of the info being posted is NOT public is copyrighted (as posted in front pages of our book)

Thank you,
Janet Eiler
