Secretary, 487th Bomb Group Association
I am researching the 487th Bomb Group, 8th U.S. Army Air Force, which was stationed at Army Air Forces Station 137, near the village of Lavenham, Suffolk, England during World War II. One of my uncles served in this Group in 1944. I am working with other members of the 487th Bomb Group Association to honor all veterans of the Group who were killed during the war.

Hi again. When I posted the photo of the actual marker, I remembered that I had a photo request. The first photo is of the location you gave me but there was no marker there.

This Summer, I photographed every marker in Union Cemetery. I didn't note the plot locations as I worked very fast to get all the markers shot. Sorry. But I do know the marker was NOT in the location shown in the memorial.

Re: August Olsen
Hello Paul...No, I do not know Don Olsen. He would be a distant cousin of mine of course. You can share my email address with him if you'd like. It is You can tell him that my great-great grandfather is John Griese. John had a sister named Anna Griese (Fiene)#107891281,who Don should be familiar with. She is August Olsen's grandmother, if I've done my research correctly. Okay, I better wrap this up. Thank you again for your contact. Best regards, Dawn Biehl, Spokane, Wa. (also on Facebook)

August Olsen
Hello...I just wanted to drop a line and say thank you for your management/creation of the memorials for the 487th Bomb Group. August Olsen (#56350344) is my third cousin and I have been doing some research on the Olsen/Fiene/Griese line of my family and trying to fill in the blanks. Currently working on August's siblings' memorials. Many thanks for all your work in honoring their lives and service to our country.

I have just located another member of his crew~one who survived and thought you might like to acknowledge his memorial with his history as part of the 487th Bomb Group.

Wonderful research you have done here! He is way, way down in my tree but followed him here today and was so pleased to see your work on his memorial and especially the pictures. I have sent an edit so you can link him to his parents.

My dad served in WWII, and I have a soft spot for all these Veterans and I thank you!

I found the location given in the memorial for Martha Stock's grave in Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Unfortunately, there is no marker on the grave. I'm sure I have the right spot as I have a very detailed cemetery map. But, to be sure I walked the entire cemetery once. I came back a second day and walked the entire southern half of the cemetery again. I found no markers for any Stock's in the cemetery. I posted a photo of the grave location. Sorry there is no marker for Martha Stock there.

RE: Walker Neal Snyder
And you did even more work on his biography! Wow!
Thanks for letting me know. Your memorial for him looks great. Well done.

Your link to his memorial at the American Cemetery in Manila is helpful, and it would be even nicer if that memorial linked back to the one you've created for him in Utah. Find a Grave can make those reciprocal links. I think that all you have to do is send a request to designate the memorials as cenotaphs and site admins will link them. Give a shout if I can help.
