When John went to war, he was 30. That would put his birth in 1832, just like the above census.

The information in his bio was suggested to me as you are now doing also. I cannot confirm all edit suggestions and I do not want the information compromised by transferring to you. You apparently recently moved your misplaced memorial to this cemetery and maybe copied my dates, I can't say that for sure. But since my memorial was researched and placed properly, and a good-intentioned photo contributor placed a photo with it, I think it should stand and you should delete your memorial. Would you not agree that would be most fair to all who have contributed for him. I'd be happy to review and update any edit suggestions you might have.

Well, I'm sure glad to help. Oral stories and recollections handed down are not always accurate, as you probably know. Happy to help you find your relative!
|Richard Wright||RE: Regarding Rosetta Montgomery Thomas|
I created this memorial from a list of burials for North East Cemetery. I have re-checked the original copy, and what I have posted matches the original document. I agree, it seems that her maiden name was probably Phillips, and had children by her first marriage to a Montgomery, and then a second marriage to someone by the name of Thomas. I've looked for an archived obituary that might give more information about her, and found none. I've checked the Social Security Death index and found her name was indeed Thomas at her death, and she was born on Jan. 11, 1894. Other than that, I know no more about her. The cemetery office might have more information should you be interested in contacting them.
Have a happy holiday season,

We respectfully request permission to use the entrance photo in our personal tree. Bruce has a cousin interred there and the photo will make a great addition to our tree.
Thanks for your consideration.

Dear Bertha, I have made a number of edits to memorials that you manage. Please go into your contributor tools, the "edit" tab, and accept the edits. I have access to a document that has preserved the transcriptions from the stones that were read between 1900 and 1950 that is kept by the church. Thanks for your help! Bonnie
