I haven't updated this for a few years, so here goes: I have been working on my family history since I started with my grandma Hazel (Taylor) McKinney in 1971. She started when she was in the 6th grade, and all my childhood we went to visit all of the extended family graves on Memorial Day and I grew up hearing stories of all of them.
I started relaying info online back when the internet first started making those sites possible. I have worked with too many fellow contributors to mention, and appreciate each and every one.
I am interested in preserving digital photos of the old stones, related or not. I will research any burial or family that needs my help, and I prefer to manage the page when doing that, to save time and ease of going back to add to or make corrections, but care not whether I retain management once I am finished adding what I can to it, unless it is my direct family. When you transfer me a page for that purpose, please let me know if you want it back. Otherwise, I transfer the majority of my completed pages to findagrave to manage, to make it fair for everyone. They are beyond helpful to me, for the sake of making this a useful site for everyone. We have worked together for almost 12 years. I also am happy to help people who need it, in making their own pages or adding photos. Just ask.
Don't think I don't appreciate updates and page transfers if I don't act on them immediately. I will get to them as fast as I can, but work with hundreds a week. Sometimes my partner Donna Londeen, or our benefactor findagrave.com hang on to some of the many pages I have had in my care so that I can sort through the ones I still need to work on, so don't be offended and think I have "given them away". They are still being cared for!
I am working to add my name and findagrave number to research I have done so that even if someone else is managing the page, people know who to go to if they have further questions about the information. If the current page owner deletes that credit, it doesn't hurt to write me anyway, in case I was the one who did the research.
Words cannot express how much my own work has been dependent on the generous gift of time and legwork of our volunteer photographers, and other researchers. I hope you enjoy what I have tried to accomplish through these many years. Lila
Folks, please use the "edit" link on the memorial page to send corrections, add info, request transfers, etc. Quicker and more efficient. If you do need to email me, PLEASE include findagrave number of the memorial page in question. I have hundreds of emails to process. THANKS!
