Hi, my name is Kris Burns (nee Ockenden)
I was born & raised in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, SE England, & now live in the NW of England.
I am tracing our family tree, & I am interested in the following surnames: OCKENDEN, MUSK, PYLE, POTTER, OSBORNE, JEX & KIRBY. (no matter where they are in the world!)
My late Father died of cancer, & his wish was to be cremated & his ashes scattered at sea. I did this for him, but felt sad that I did not have a place to go to remember him, until a friend told me about this site! I now feel, so much happier, and can visit him when ever I feel the need. I have also started to add other deceased relatives, such as my Grand Parents, who I have linked to other family relatives as well. Sadly, I live too far away from their graves to visit.
I am also interested in Manchester United FC, (The Busby Babes) & The BEACH BOYS (Carl Wilson & Dennis Wilson) who's graves I have visited, via this excellent web site.
A BIG THANK YOU, to everyone who visits my family & friends on this memorial site. Your tokens mean a lot to me. I try to say thank you to each of you, but sometimes you may be over looked. Please forgive me.
**************************
Words cannot explain my gratitude to my new friends, * Jean from Atoka, OK, for sponsoring my Father & Mother's memorials. * Nora Ann, for sponsoring my little Sammie's memorial. * Ronald & Janice for sponsoring my cousin Alistair Musk's memorial. * Debra Felger, from Ohio, USA, for sponsoring my husband's little Aunt - Freda Ann Burns, and my Great Aunt Jo Ockenden's memorials. * Deb for sponsoring my Godfather, William Musk's memorial. * Purple-Lady for sponsoring my grandparents Charles & Sarah Ockenden, my Aunt Vi & Uncle George Frost & Kookie, our much loved guinea pig. * Nancy Murray for sponsoring Binky, my daughter's much loved rabbit.
If your wondering who to visit; *Charles Henry Ockenden was my Father *Daisy Florence Musk Ockenden was my Mother. *Sammie Ockenden Phillips was my third child, who I sadly miscarried. *Charles Henry Ockenden II my paternal Grandfather. *Sarah Pyle Ockenden my paternal Grandmother. *William Elijah Musk my maternal Grandfather. *Florence Amelia Potter Musk my maternal Grandmother. *William Henry Musk my Uncle & God Father, his wife *Olive Jemima Cobb Musk & their son, my cousin *Alistair Patrick Musk *Jo Ockenden my Great Aunt. From there you can follow the links to other family members.
On my waunderings I found this:
AS I LIVE EACH DAY, MAY I DO MY PART TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND TOUCH ONE HEART EACH DAY IT IS MY GOAL TO BRING SMILES AND LAUGHTER INTO A SOUL.
I dedicate that to all those here on FAG, who I will probably never meet, but who have been like dear friends, when I've needed them most. A simple token left for your loved ones, is so up lifting! You never feel alone, and know that others also know & share feelings of deep sadness & loss. ************************** LETTER FROM HEAVEN To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through. God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on. I need you here badly, you're part of my plan. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man." God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight. God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years. Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry: It does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain." And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go....from that body to be free. Remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me. Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author) ©Copyright 1998-2008

 | Hi Kris! Thank you, very kindly, for visiting my son and for the beautiful tokens you leave. Your visits mean the world to me dear.Added by Osiris on Jun 12, 2013 2:46 AM | | | Tigress
 | A soldier to remeber Dear Kris, Over the Memorial Day holiday, I discovered the Find A Grave site of my cousin George M. Hogan whose plane was lost over the Pacific in WWII. He was the child of my mother's twin sister, who died giving birth to him. George was only 19 when he disappeared on a combat mission. I never knew him, but his loss was very painful for my family. I am so pleased to be able to honor him, and would greatly appreciate your visiting his site.

 | RE: your loss... Dear Kris: Words cannot express my gratitude for your kind words of support and sympathy. I had no idea that a human being was actually capable of feeling so much sadness and sorrow as I have for the past year. I'm no longer the same woman I used to be. I just put up facade for the sake of my other 2 sons. I smile, even laugh sometimes, but I'm dying inside though! There is no happiness in me anymore. I know you went through all these feelings and emotions when you lost your baby and understand me completely. I know the hurt will never go away, but at least hope, that one day this will be less painful. Now, I wanted to let you know that, somehow, I was finally able to make a memorial for my David. There is only one token I left because I just made it. It makes me so sad to see empty like that, 'cause I really don't want my dear son to be forgotten. His memorial # is 111 365 436. Also, tomorrow will be his first anniversary in heaven or angel day. If at all possible sweetie, please visit him, and pray for him and our family. Tomorrow will be a very difficult day for all of us. Thank you in advance for your kindness! God bless you...Added by Osiris on May 29, 2013 8:05 AM | | | cathyaus
 | H. Oliver - Helles Memorial (WW1) Hello Kris I am messaging you as I noticed that you left a flower on this soldier's page. Are you related to him & do you have any other information on him ???
I am a volunteer on a family history website called Wiltshire OPC & I am currently researching those on the Durrington, Wiltshire War Memorial.
Harry Oliver is named on it & I think this may be him.
Thanks CathyAdded by cathyaus on May 29, 2013 12:47 AM | | | Osiris
 | Hi Kris! Dear and never forgotten Kris. I'm so, so sorry I've been away from find a grave for such a long time. But I've suffered a terrible loss I just cannot deal with. I lost my eldest son David due to an undetected heart condition. He suffered a stroke and was in the hospital intubated and in a coma until he went to heaven. You're a mum, you can imagine the pain I'm going through. I also suffer from a heart condition and other conditions that affect my heart. And this tragedy almost killed me too. I've been submerged in this horrible deep depression I just couldn't come out of. Now I'm ready to, actually, continue living and decided to come back to Find A Grave. I haven't been able to make a memorial for my son yet, because the sadness is still too much for me. But, I'm working on it as we speak, and I wanted you to be the first friend to say hello to upon my return to "life". I'll be visiting your wonderful fam and friends, and hope to hear from you soon. Take care and God bless you dear!Added by Osiris on Apr 21, 2013 3:21 AM | | | Angela Waite
 | Arthur Robert Musk Hello! I am planning on taking my children to France this year to visit the war graves and thought it would be good to see if I could trace any family graves. Arthur Robert Musk was my Great Grandfather, married to Ethel Bradsteet who died 3rd May 1977 in Diss, Norfolk. I am the Granddaughter of their eldest child Muriel - always known as Ivy,and knew Cecil and Dorothy in my childhood. I have found your information about the family very very interesting indeed. Thank you! | | | Angela Waite
