"When I go to a cemetery, I don't just see tombstones. I see families there. I see history there. I see much more than just a stone..."|
I've been working on genealogy for about 10 years now. I stumbled upon this site and so impressed with the idea that I decided to volunteer and add graves as I ran across them. It saddens me to see the state of some of the graveyards I've visited, but I feel like I'm helping save part of history by photographing the stones that are still there. If I can be of any help just let me know.
"Genealogy is the art of collecting tidbits of the lives of those who came before us. And a genealogist sorts, organizes and nurtures this info for the purpose of paying it forward to a future generation's hands. The bucket is in our hands now, for a moment it's "ours", but the rest of the brigade is waiting for that pail of water to be passed to the next soul." Gerblady
if you would like a transfer of a memorial, please use the "edit" button on the memorial and state your relationship. I will gladly transfer memorials within 4 direct generations. Others I will be happy to consider. :-)

Thank you for the info on her actual burial location. I passed it along to the manager of the inaccurate memorial.

Hiya. Thanks for your efforts at Find A Grave. Truly appreciated.
I'm writing to ask your permission to use your headstone photos of my family members with my public family tree at Ancestry.com. You and Find A Grave would be credited.
The one I'm looking at is for Louemma Bowles Wolf (No. 9704416), but there might be others.
Please reference Louemma Bowles when responding.

According to the hear stone her name is Domnita and her birth date is June 7, 1941. Born the day after D-Day. I added the photo of the full memorial that shows her name and birth date to his memorial.

You are very welcome. I am so glad to be of help.

I found an article from 2000 (that listed him as 82, in keeping with the 1918 birth date on the grave that you "own") in the _New York Daily News_ that said he was arrested for throwing acid at police from his apartment. So, that's probably the same way-past-curmudgeony Herman Harband.

I noticed that the Herman Harband grave that you manage is the only one in that cemetery. Do you have more history on that fellow? I'm trying to figure out if it's actually the same person as this grave (which has no death date, and so is probably not buried there), http://i.imgur.com/MQ9DTJu.jpg. I know the birth years differ, but that's not that uncommon. I'm hoping that you can shed some light on this.
