I've always been fascinated with grave sites, visited cemeteries, made rubbings, took photos, etc. and must say that find-a-grave is an ideal site.

I've worked on family history projects for over 35 years and will for as long as I can. I'm more than happy to share family history with anyone interested.

The primary names I research are STROOPE, KEA, Pitts, Howton, Trammel, Hopper, Hale, Thetford, CARPER, BARTON, Lyon, Phipps, Griffith, Ellison, Shumate and many allied lines.

When I document a grave site, I try to include some information on the parents, siblings, marriage, etc. hoping this will help someone identify their relative. In some cases, when recording my line, or lines, I've created memorials for as much of the cemetery as I've had access to.

I'm not likely to post obits. I prefer to glean information from any I receive.

I'll be glad to transfer your family member to you. Always remember the FAG # for the memorial page and, of course, your FAG #. PLEASE do not send me a big list of names with no numbers included... thanks

If I have grave site information in error, please contact me so that corrections can be made.

RE: Civil War Veteran
The Civil War Veteran is William J. Alexander, who is buried in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Port Orchard.

William J. Alexander served in Company D, 117th Regiment and Company E, Regiment 21, 1st Heavy Artillery. He enrolled in the 21st Regiment on 2 Sep 1864, at Indianapolis, Indiana. He was discharged on 13 May 1865.

He married Eliza Hummel on 7 April 1867 in Macon, Illinois.

On August 31, 1890, Alexander files for an Invalid Pension, filed from Washington State. The pension application lists both units of the Indiana Infantry.

The Alexanders appear in the Thirteenth Census of the United States (20 April 1910, State of Washington, Kitsap County, Waterman District.

They had been married for forty three years; his age was listed as 65 and Eliza's was 70.

Block 30 of the census reflects that he was in the Union Army.

After Willilam Alexander passed away, Eliza filed for the Widow pension on February 21, 1921,from the State of Washington.

Re Roscoe Jones Lakebay
Got your suggestion. Thank you. I insert only that which I know from my own research. Am not a family member. Was simply walking the cemetery one day. If you wish to manage this record, I'd be happy to transfer it over to your care.

RE: Maloire
Yep....spellings are the challenge. Even in my own family's history. I hope to go get a photo of his headstone this weekend if the weather holds. You asked for it on Taweret's and she deleted her site. So I will get one...someday. HA

Son of George & Helen Opitz
I believe you manage the memorials for George & Helen Opitz. I've added a picture of the grave marker for the infant son of George & Helen Optiz to Helen's memorial. The marker is in Oakwood Hill Cemetery in Tacoma.

Oops...dyslexia huh. As soon as Alice moves the death certificate to the correctly spelled on by Taweret, I'll delete mine.

Thanks for catching that.
