I am a retired Episcopal priest who has done genealogical work for her own family since 1990. |
I used to serve as a Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness volunteer for Cottonwood County before that site closed. I'm still willing to do lookups. This is easy to do, as I live within a mile of the Courthouse and Historical Society. Or you can contact the Historical Society at firstname.lastname@example.org. They charge $10. per hour plus copying for research.
I am nearly done doing whole small cemeteries in Cottonwood County, Minnesota. The five of us working on that have finished all but the three city cemeteries. If I have been able to post a photo on the front page of a cemetery in CC you will find my status notes in the caption. My daughter thinks it's a waste of time but I point out that it gets me out for a walk up and down "rows" in the cemetery. [Feb 2013] Working on Mountain Lake from photos & register and Lakeview from a list. I am also working on comprehensive postings for columbariums in Minnesota Episcopal churches.
I will transfer any memorial I have created on request except those for my own ancestors or in my virtual cemeteries. Nor will I transfer to anyone who remains anonymous in their profile. It is difficult to trust someone who is so concealed. But let's talk if you want one of them.
I GIVE EXPLICIT PERMISSION TO COPY AND USE ANY PHOTO I HAVE TAKEN AND POSTED ON FIND A GRAVE FOR YOUR OWN GENEALOGICAL PURPOSES. NO NEED TO ASK.
Considering all the recent zombie movies it's good to remember this "It is far better to be looking for dead people than to have dead people looking for you!"

Thank you so much for the birth and death location. If you would send me a copy of the birth certificate, I would be happy to make the name change. I appreciate your time.

I believe the grave you have found is not that of Helena Anne Ewert Kliewer, who had a different birth year and married Johann G Kliewer, a different person altogether.
I think this is the grave of Helena Epp, b. 17 Nov 1871 in Russia, married Johann Johann "John" Kliewer (1866-1930) 22 Feb 1891 in Mountain Lake, Cottonwood, MN, and is buried beside him.

|Michael Kidd||RE: Lily Mathisen in Lakeview|
Thank you so very much for the quick and very useful reply.
It is ironic that I'd already sent a message to the creator of Marjorie Lillian Mathisen Erickson's memorial (#79092657) requested that her son's memorial be added to her page. Once again I was going backwards. The creator of that page happens to be the creator of both her son's (my uncle) and Marjorie Erickson's page.
I would like to formally ask you to become the manager of Lily Mathisen's page. My Mom is still alive and I know she has photos and other family records that should be added to Great-Grandma Mathisen's page (including her very first 4-generation picture with Lily, Marjorie, my Mom and me (the first grandson)).
To become manager of a page is there anything I need to do or does the current manager do that?
Thank you again for the very quick response. I know that it will thrill my Mom to have someone record her roots for her children and grandchildren.

Thanks for the correction and the pictures!

Thank you for correcting the death place.
As to changing the position he held at his demise, that is a direct copy of the wording on the official report of his death from the word "traveling" onward. From what you say which I do not doubt one bit, this is just another official death report with a statement not entirely accurate.
Again, thanks for all the hard work you do and your dedication to accuracy.

Thanks for all the very hard work you have done. It is fantastic!
Concerning the above memorial for my relative Rev. Stephen Edwards Keeler, there is one correction you need to make according to "Reports of Deaths of American Citizens Abroad, 1835-1974" which source appears on http://www.ancestry.com and includes a picture of the actual report which clearly states he died at VIP Hotel Room 103, 911 Lexington Ave, Patrick Henry Village, Heidelberg, Germany.(US Army Base). This document also states his remains were flown home and that he was traveling as the Presiding Bishop for the Protestant Episcopal Church of America in Europe.
Your report on him is inclusive of other facts. I thought you might like to at least correct his death place.

I noticed for my ancestor Wihelm August Krahn(110284012) you added as a bio that his burial register said he was born in Stetin, Germany. I was just wondering how you found the burial register and where I could obtain a scan of it. Thanks so much!
