Lana Young
Janet,

We know that Lana's husband, J. E. Young, was still alive at the time of the 1880 census. Some of the family trees on the internet show he died in 1850 which is not correct. He was a minister, so I would imagine he moved on if he was still living when she died. Generally the Kirwin newspaper obituaries showed that the person was a widow if, indeed, she was one, not the wife of someone. My husband and I photographed the entire cemetery in 2010, and we used the cemetery listing provided by the Kirwin City Hall. It would be interesting to call them and ask who purchased the lot that Lana is buried in. They have that record, but I can't access it now on their web site for some reason. If you were ask my opinion, I would think that neither her husband nor her two sons who died much earlier than 1884, are buried in the Kirwin Cemetery. My great grandfather was the sexton of the cemetery for a time. Kirwin didn't have much in the way of population
until 1872 or later. I would imagine the babies are buried in Iowa. I don't know about the husband.

RE: James A. Boice
Hi again,
I'm a little confused about J A Boice's memorial. When you created it, you listed him as buried in Moore Cemetery. CB lists him as buried in Bickett Cemetery. Which cemetery is it?

RE: New edit feature
Janet,

Your memorial to James A Boice has disappeared and I can only find one done earlier by CB at Bickett Cemetery. I'm curious to know if you deleted your memorial to him. I had not gotten around to linking James to his daughters. Thanks for the reminder!

I found her obit, thought you might like to post it for her. Also, do you have George Coleman Marshall within your family, a teacher at Trotter School house, Carrollton, MO. Sincerely, Sylvia Trotter

The Wakenda Record 16 Feb 1877 Mrs. Hiram Wilsoxson – Sarah Marshall, daughter of John Marshall, was born in Lincoln county, Kentucky, May 10th, 1809. A few years after her birth her father emigrated with his family to Missouri and settled near Boone's Lick, Howard county. In 1838 she married Hiram Wilsoxson, a former resident of Howard county at that time merchandizing in Ca-----on [inkspot], and removed here with [him? Inkspot] She had five children, of whom John I. and James M. are bankers, living in Carrollton; three boys died young. She leaves two sisters and a brother, one sister the relict of Uncle Joe Cooper, later of Howard county, over eighty years old, on the wife of Mr. Tom Jackson, of Saline county, and a brother, Lindsey Marshall, of California. In 1849 she received a stroke of paralysis, affecting her left side and limbs, from which she never recovered. She became a member of the Christian Church at this place under the ministry of Elder Gains, about thirty years ago. Her husband, Mr. Hiram Wilsoxson, died five years ago next month. Mrs. Wilscoxson died last Friday, February 9th, and the funeral services conducted by Elder Grandfield, of the Christian church, were attended by one of [the] largest congregations that ever convened there. She was an exemplary Christian, a good wife, mother, friend and neighbor, and her memory will be revered by everyone with whom she became acquainted.
