|S Dent||RE: Buell Name|
Not all Buells are actually Buells. Some started out as "Bull". I only know about NY families and am connected to Bull, Buell and Buel. Judge Munson Buell of CT signed his name as Buel in NY, even though he was born Buell. My great-grandfather was born Bull, became Buel (as did his family during the mid/late 1800's) & then in the early 1900's, his son added another "L". Who knows? I've generally found that one "L" = "Bull" and the families are not from common ancestors. When in doubt, blame the census taker and how well that person could spell!
