We live in the small town of Cleveland, NC, of western Rowan County, with easy access to Salisbury of Rowan Co., Statesville and other towns of Iredell County, Mocksville area in Davie Co. and most within 20 miles of us. Several cemeteries are within 5 miles of home including a few in our town.|
Third Creek Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, maintains a pre-Revolutionary War cemetery as part of its grounds; I've been privileged to help update the very detailed records, totaling over 650 gravestones that are visible. The church is willing to look up information on people with grave sites whether they have a marker or not.
This area is full of historical cemeteries, some of which are still in use. Some are out-of-the-way and others are not. This means being smart with my trips to take photographs in them. Unfortunately, some requests are guesses which can lead to area volunteers wasting fuel and time trying to fill a request. I do my homework and double check the validity in the county cemetery records at our great Rowan County Library History room just to keep that from happening.
Family names being researched for my husband's paternal side are Steele, Chambers, Graham, Knox, Brandon, Cowan, Wilson, Luckey, Locke; and on his maternal side are Walker, King, Quarterman, Way, Winn, Reade. My paternal family side is Hutcheson, Launius/Lanius, Durham, Chaffin, Dudley, Chiles, Smith, and Johnson and maternal side is Ellis, Reynolds, Potts.
After several years of creating family trees for both sides in order to digitize the information from the paper and books left to us, I seem to continually have more data to add.
I will gladly transfer memorials if they are not our family. Please ask for them through the Edit tab on the memorial. And feel welcome to use my memorial photos for genealogical purposes. Just give me credit.

Thank you for your kindness in fulfilling my photo request!
|William Sanders||RE: John Andrews, Thyatira Pres. Cemetery|
Thank you for your willingness to take the pictures. I have added John Andrews to the list. Included with his last name were the initials,ESQ, so that hindered the search. Thanks again! Other inscriptions are not necessary at this time.
Thank you Joy for your help :)

|Little Marie||Brandons and Lockes|
Hi again. Just read your profile and see where you live. If your husband is related to the Brandons and Lockes then we are probably distantly related as I am also related to those folks. Betsy Brandon, wife of Major Francis McCorkle, is my ancestor and the Lockes are in that bunch also. Many of my relatives are still being named "Locke." Betsy and Maj Francis are buried near Denver, NC and are in my virtual cemetery about my direct ancestors. Thanks Little Marie

Thank you so much for the volunteer photo. From your description of the overgrown state of this grave no wonder it was not on Find A Grave before. I knew he HAD to be there as his whole family is there so I called the cemetery and they confirmed his interment. I think his other family members have photos on their memorials. Again thank you so much. Little Marie
|Kay Parker McCary||RE: George Teague|
Thank you so much for taking the time to go and photograph my cousin, Hazel Mayfield Teague's tombstone. I do not have any info on George...I guess he is still living, so that photo can wait. Thanks again!
