I have added these memorials, mostly from the historic cemeteries of Charleston to memorialize all the individuals who have contributed to Charleston's past.

If I don't respond to a request for transfer it means I prefer to retain the memorial.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I just found out yesterday January 21, 2010 that internments of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial in Charleston. There are others who did transcriptions, but I am not aware who they are. If someone knows, I would be glad to acknowledge them in this profile.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

John Crandon - Find A Grave Memorial# 140539347
Dear Saratoga ~

I believe you have duplicated a memorial for the same individual located here: Find A Grave Memorial# 133709638 / 140539347

Although you have listed John, middle initial E, I believe it the same person as John, middle initial H (for Howland) Crandon.

If you agree, I created this memorial in Aug of 2014, and yours followed in Dec 2014. So, kindly delete your memorial.

I will be happy to communicate with you further if you have questions or concerns.

RE: St Thomas Cemetery, Cainhoy Rd
When you say all the graves with headstones have already been memorialized, do you mean photos have been uploaded for them? Does that mean the two photo requests don't have headstones? What might I take a photo of then? I'm a newbie and appreciate your helpful reply as I don't want to make a trip just to confirm what's already on findagrave. Thanks.

St Thomas Cemetery, Cainhoy Rd
I joined Findagrave a few days ago to contribute. I plan to claim two photo requests, take photos and transcribe, and possibly submit a spreadsheet if beneficial for Saint Thomas, Cainhoy Rd on Community Meetup Day Oct 17th. I plan to bring my smartphone and DSLR. Do you have any advice? Do you know any one who might be interested in serving with me?

Riverview and Old Third Central
Do you know when the burials in Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery were moved to Riverview Memorial? I was out there today looking at them, trying to figure out how and when I can try to photograph them without getting eaten alive by mosquitos.
