Pat is an RAOGK volunteer for Ellis and surrounding counties in Texas. She previously lived for 30 years in Colorado where she also researched for RAOGK. While in Colorado, she served as President, as well as other officers, in her local genie society and edited the society newsletter and quarterly, even after she moved back to Texas in 2002. Pat also served as President of the Colorado Council of Genealogial Societies and was the coordinator for the National Genealogical Society's Conference in the States in 1998, held in Denver. She has conducted workshops and presented lectures at the local, area, and national levels, but her passion has always been, and will always be, cemeteries.
Susan O. Thacker Hi, Susan was my 2nd greatgrandmother. Her husband James Hugh Thacker is Find A Grave # 110880546 if you could link them please. He was buried in Alvarado because the weather and the roads were too bad to transport his body to Midlothian. I have heard many times how disappointed the family was that he could not be buried next to Susan. Thanks for your help. Twani Capelli
Just one correction on the memorial of James W. Holcomb. His parents were actually William Jefferson Holcomb and Penelope Snipes (William's second wife), which would explain why the headstone says son of W and P. The memorial has William's first wife Gibson listed as James's mom, but according to the family bible, it is Penelope. see http://files.usgwarchives.net/tx/cherokee/bible/holcomb.txt
Loads of thanks for transferring maintenance of my parents' memorials to my care. More than this, I applaud your outstanding and unselfish contributions to the ongoing wealth of information you continue to add to our historical databases. I appreciate you...................
