RE: Phylander S. Noble. Find A Grave Memorial# 77850107
Hi Gary,

The Rice Cemetery has always been referred to as either the Rice Cemetery or the Rice IOOF Cemetery. The Mt. View Cemetery sign is a new one within the last year replacing the old IOOF sign... no knowledge as to when or why the name change. The cemetery is a non-perpetual care cemetery and sits up on a bench about a mile or so east of the small community of Rice; rather than one of beautifully maintained grass lawns; it is one of native grasses, flowers and a few pine trees. It is my understanding that the Rice IOOF Cemetery Association sees to its basic care and unfortunately, I don’t know who their current contact person is or if the association is even still active. Will see if I can find someone that might know.

As to the Gifford Cemetery it was among one of several cemeteries and towns that had to be relocated back when Grand Coulee Dam was built and the back waters of the newly created Lake Roosevelt flooded the area. At the time of the relocation project family members were given the option of having their family members placed in any cemetery location that they wished. For any graves that there was no family to express those wishes, the graves where then located to a nearby cemetery.

McCord & Cory Funeral Home – Mr. McCord owned and operated the chapel in Colville, Stevens Co., WA from 1909 to 1939 and over the years it has changed hands a number of times and is now known as the Danekas Funeral Chapel. Their funeral records for Mr. Noble show: Noble, Phylander S. Died – 27 Dec 1931 in Yakima, WA; born – Iowa; No information for parents; died of Pneumonia; burial was graveside services on the 31 Dec 1931. He was married and his occupation was that of farming.

I hope this is of some help.

RE: Larinda Marissa (Pratt) Weihe
You are very Welcome. I am just glad I could help.

I search Wei-- and went down the search. Unique enough first name it popped up at me. I ALMOST missed the stone in the field. It sort of turned me around to see Ha there you are.

And FYI misspelling or Date errors is never in short supply with this cemetery.
Yesterday I had a B: 1991 D: 1902.
Until about the 60's or 70's they VERY OFTEN used burial date as date of Death. I use Death Certificates for most of my Cross reference.

I did just read someone saying "NO ONE Record proves anything. It is the accumulation and ..." well you do this, You know how that works.

I AM GLAD I could Help. Sometimes they find me.

THANK YOU
HAVE FUN

RE: Lynn Haslem
I think checking with the Cemetery would be the best bet. At the cemetery, there was a book that listed all the grave sites, but his name wasn't in it. His wife's was - that's how I found the headstone. I didn't look for a date that the directory was printed. Maybe with it being a smaller town, the book hasn't been updated? But I would think since he passed away over a year ago, the directory would have been updated since then. And maybe the family hasn't had the headstone updated? Research is frustrating at times!! To be honest, I strictly looked at the directory for him and found his wife's name (matched it to his spouse listed on Find A Grave) and then found the headstone. I recognized it from the picture on her memorial. I didn't do more digging than that.

I think your best resource is the cemetery office, or the city. Do you know if there is any family in the area?

Good luck.

Hi, Gary - I was traveling through Blanding yesterday and I stopped by the Blanding cemetery. I found Lynn's headstone, but his death date has not been added. I took a picture of the headstone anyway and can add it to his memorial if you'd like. It's basically the same photo that is on his wife's memorial page except my photo has flowers that have been placed on the headstone. In mine, their marriage date is covered up by the flowers.

I also looked him up in the directory book at the cemetery. He is not listed in the book, but his wife is. Her plot is recorded as 1-52-1-7. I'm not exactly sure what his plot number would be.

Please let me know if you'd like me to add my photo.

Thanks - Rugan Saal
