Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello,
My name is Daeja and I have a deep love of history and genealogy. I find it very exciting that one place can contain so much information for anyone wanting to learn more about their ancestors. I have started to include pictures with the cemeteries I transcribe and enjoy bringing out the names and dates on the oldest of stones that I find. It upsets me to no end to find some so deteriorated that no information can be salvaged. It's difficult for me to understand how little respect can be shown to those that have passed on. In my own way, I'm trying to make the information contained in the tombstones I list here available forever no matter what time and the disrespectful bring to the stone itself. As for reading those that have been here for years, there are several non damaging ways I have found to bring out the engravings. Chalk Chalk Sidewalk Chalk!! I love this stuff. I swiped some from my daughter and keep several sticks in my truck at all times for just in case. Rubbing across even the most illegible stones will pop the writing right out. Another way is shaving cream. Spray the stone and then drag a paint stick down the front pushes the cream right into the engraving and makes it really stand out. The rain washes both right away without the slightest damage. I intend to continue doing this as long as I can even if it is a few names and pics at a time. God Bless!

John Calhoun Wilson family
RE: Wilson family in Hinds County, Byrum, MS

Hi Daeja,

I am leaving a public message in hopes that you or someone that reads this will respond.

I believe my Grandfather, William B. Wilson (Willie Wilson), was John C. and Nannie E.'s child. He was born in Byrum in 1895 and died in Georgia in 1971.

Any information on the Wilson or Raney (Rainey?) family would be much appreciated.

Please contact me at jcwparker@bellsouth.net, with "Wilson" as subject line.

Thank you!

Poplar Springs Cemetery
Please no transfers. Thanks for working with me. My email is myrtisjane@comcast.net.

Originally someone added Poplar Springs (location Simpson County) cemetery page to Findagrave. I added same entries in 2011 (unknowingly dup entries) as you added in Poplar Springs (location Rankin County). They both had the same map location. So another contributor told me about the dups and he had Findagrave combine the two locations into one (leaving the entries all in the Rankin County location, then deleted the Simpson County location). They merged what they could but leaving some dups as you noted. I did not get finished last night. I deleted what I could but some of the children you added were linked to parents I added so I left them for last. (Very confusing! And I apologize)

I will delete the remaining ones tonight, but I will be asking you to link the children to yours.

1) Virginia Ruth Barron (I have deleted mine)

2) William Henry Purvis (I will delete mine) (your W. H. Purvis)
Family links:
Spouse:
Mattie H. Hedgepeth Purvis (1889 - 1968) #46957767

Children: (the children are linked to mine I will send edit email to change parents to yours)
Luther Perry Purvis (1909 - 1985)*
Virginia Ruth Purvis Barron (1912 - 1988)*

3) Charity Touchstone Byrd (I will delete mine)
Children: (the children are linked to mine I will send edit email to change parents to yours)
Joseph Webster Byrd (1859 - 1889)*
Alice V. Byrd (1862 - 1907)*
J. W. Byrd (1864 - 1895)*

I hope I have not confused the issue more!
