I currently am in St Clair Shores, Michigan, although I try to make it home to Belton, South Carolina as often as possible. |
When I'm not working on genealogy or in cemeteries, I homeschool my son, play in my (small) garden and harbor a nearly unhealthy love for old houses.
I welcome any corrections, additions or duplicate notifications and will try to get them corrected as soon as possible - please use the "Edit" tab to make all requests, as that helps to ensure I know exactly what memorial you are referencing.
It's important to remember that the purpose of Find A Grave is to find a grave. Click on the "Help with Find A Grave" link on the left hand side of the page to review naming conventions and what to do if you do not know a persons burial location. Memorials that follow the naming conventions allow a person to be found by their friends and family in addition to helping prevent duplicate memorials from being created.
Please realize that those who spend their own time to clean up errors found in memorials are doing so out of respect to those who have been memorialized.
Remember - it's not about you, it's about the people who have come before you.

Thanks for the addition for Robert's last name. Now that I look closer at the photo of the stone, it's obvious that was his last name.
Do you mind me asking how you came across this memorial?
|Anna O'Quinn Richter||Levi Jones|
Done. Could you please note his service in the CW, what outfit he served in? I'll put his name in my CSA vets VC for the UDC.
|Jessica Hardy||Edit for Thomas Herschel|
Thanks for pointing out my mistake there. It was actually a duplicate post of Thomas Herschel White. I don't know how I managed that, but I didn't notice it until the edit popped up. I've deleted it now.
|Roxanne D||RE: Clara (Burns) Howes Davis|
Thank you for pointing this out. I will fix that right away. I read all the instructions back when I joined but have forgotten some of them. I will go back and reread to make sure I'm doing things properly. Thanks again.
|Roxanne D||Clara (Burns) Howes Davis|
Courtney ... please contact me as to what the change is you wish to make. Her maiden name was (Burns), first husband was Howes, and my uncle Warren Davis was her second husband.
|colleen sanborn||Florida Raymond Soucy|
Thanks for the edit request...I made some changes, but discovered that both us were incorrect. Florida was a Raymond by birth and a Soucy by marriage. My Me'Me' is her niece, so she filled me in. I verified using ancestry.
Thanks for bringing the stone to my attention.
Have a Great Day,
|janicet||RE: Re: Italian surnames for females|
I do understand that. They will find be found in the links for their husbands and children quite readily. I always check that box if I am looking for a female in a family. I am only recording the name on the memorial and their legal name. These are only done this way in Italy. Perhaps findagrave needs to acknowledge that there are other conventions in other countries. I think that you will find it only a minor problem and it is totally consistent with the practice of recording their stone as it is written.

OOps.. Thank you for letting me know about the duplicate Caplinger entry. I have corrected it! :)
|James Triplett||God's Little Acre Cemetery|
I did add some memorials to God's Little Acre Cemetery a few years back. But, I don't have a particular connection to the cemetery. If you would like to manage the memorials, send a list of names to my e-mail. I will delete mine and you can re-create them under your profile (I'm a little particular about my numbers, so I like to handle it that way).,
|janicet||Re: Italian surnames for females|
please note: In Italy, married women do not take the surname of their husbands. However, they are married, so I put their last name in the maiden name field to make it clear that they were married. I will not put their husband's name in the surname field as that is not their name. She will appear in a search in findagrave with her parents' family but not with her husband and children. They are in the links. She is my cousin and this has been confirmed by my relatives.
