My name is Doris Ackley Caldwell. I was born 1/12/38 in Peru, Kansas. I live in Vacaville, CA. I am already listed on the Ackley Sinnet Cemetary website as Ruby, which I have never gone by. I am the great granddaughter of Samuel and Sarah Ackley and David & Louisa Garoutte, granddaughter of Sherman & Martha Ackley, daughter of William Evert Ackley, sister of Loyd Ackley, niece of Reed & Dutch (Eulalah), Pete (Dennis)& Alice(all of whom are buried in Sinnet Cemetary). Ida Ackley McCollum & Jack, Ethel Ackley McLeister & Carl. Ethel & Ida are not buried in Sinnet. I visited the cemetary in 1987 and 1992 and 1996 with my brother, Loyd. It is my understanding that the cemetary property was part of the Sherman Ackley homestead and was established because white folks couldn't be buried in the Indian cemetary.
