I have been working on genealogy for about 25 years. I just found out about Find A Grave a few months ago. What a handy tool this is. I enjoy going around to different cemeteries looking at all the old headstones, and taking pictures for people who might not every see the headstonesof there ancestors if someone didn't take pictures for them.|
If anyone finds an error, please let me know and I will correct it. Also anyone who would like to add something, I can also do that for you.
For over 15 years I have been seriously researching my Gibbons family, with a beginning origin in South Carolina (Joseph Franklin Gibbons 1839 and still searching for information prior to that), also researching the Paris family (Rhoda Catherine Paris) from Spartanburg, South Carolina and the Giles families from that area.
From there the search has taken me into Harlan and Bell Counties in Kentucky, and surrounding counties in VA & TN, later on to Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties in KY also. In KY families that connect with our Gibbons are: Fee's, Green, Burkhart, Hensley, Wynn, Wilson and more.
My grandfather Andrew Jackson Gibbons was born in SC, was raised and married Margaret Fee in Harlan County KY. They raised their family in Lee Co. VA. Andrew Jackson Gibbons brothers are, James Giles, John Giles, Spurgeon Gibbons, Willie Gibbons, Campbell Gibbons, Frank Gibbons II and Nathan Gibbons. No known sisters.
If anyone has information of any of these families I would be very appreciative of anything you are willing to share.
I am also working on a register for Rose Hill Cemetery in Robinson, Kansas.

Vernon, you put a photo of him on his memorial. May I use this photo in my genealogy program?

Dear Mr. Gibbons
Did you call or contact J.L. Robertson from Rupp's Funeral Home in St. Joseph? There is a Modena located up near Bethany, perhaps it is that one, but I have a feeling it is the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Fairfax Mo, in Atchison County. Ms. Griffin's maiden name was Ball and there are several people by that name buried up there. Please do the research and please change your memorial to the correct cemetery. Please delete it from the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in St. Joseph.

You posted a picture of her on Find A Grave, so I was wondering if you are related to her?
|Rick McMillian||RE: Mrs Griffin|
Please contact J. L. Robertson in charge of the Rupp Funeral Home in St. Joseph. He should be able to give you the information that you require. I believe it is a small community up by Bethany, but I am not for sure. All I know is that she is not in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in St. Joseph, so you can delete her from there.
|Susan Hinkle||Reba Flemings Donahue|
Please delete the entry you made yesterday for Reba. I have made a post linking her to her family which her daughter will take over after the funeral. I am her cousin and would appreciate your consideration in this matter. Thank you.
|Rick McMillian||Mrs Griffin|
Mr. Gibbons, I am the sexton for the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in St. Joseph. Mrs. Griffin is NOT buried in our cemetery.. She is buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Modini.

|j.devin1412||Jacob and Mary Feek|
You have misspelled Jacob and Mary's last name. It is Feik and not Feek.
They are buried in Rock Creek Cemetery in Sabetha, Kansas.
You can see the name Feik on the headstones for both.
