Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a second generation native of California, but my roots go deep into New England via the Midwest and Great Plains. (Genealogy and family history figure large in my interests.)

I grew up with a view of Glen Abbey Memorial Park, and my siblings and I roamed its grounds when we could. Although none of my family is buried there, I feel a kind of ownership of that place!

I like to take multiple photos in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, to give a feel for the place where people are buried. If I have posted more photographs than you would prefer on a memorial of one of your loved ones, let me know your preferences. On the other hand, if I have only posted a photo of the marker and you would like something more, let me know that, and I will take more photos or add something I already have for that area of the cemetery.

You may contact me at jfgilman at gmail or by a message here.

RE: Sarah Gregory

I was happy to help provide the photo unfortunately I was on vacation and dont live in Johnston.

The cemetery was in bad repair and many grave markers are not readable.

I don't recall seeing any infant markers, not to say they were not there. But it is unlikely as the cemetery was established in the early 1800's by the Daughters of the American Revolution and those buried there originally were soldiers and veterans of the Rev war and family members.

Fulton County had many of the soldiers dug up from there original restinng spots to be moved to this location.

Sorry I am unable to help with the other photos I am back here in Texas.

Laura Mae Barnes Dempsey
Ms. Gilman, I would like to thank you so very much for obtaining a photo of Mae's final resting place in California. Her Kentucky family, of which I am one, would never have seen it otherwise. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and appreciate your kindness. Thank you. p.s. may I use the memorial photo with proper credit on my page of her? Please advise. Thank you for considering my request. Cris

Glen Abbey
Hi Jane, I am a photo volunteer in San Diego, too. I've not been claiming Glen Abbey, because it is so special to you. I 'work' at 14 others in San Diego. My g grandfather actually worked at Mt. Hope, and I have family buried at many cemeteries in San Diego. My Parents will be at Miramar National Cemetery and I will be at Singing Hills. Hee Hee Delete this. CJ Jackson

RE: father of Nancy Gilmore Crofton and Thomas Allen Gilmore
Actually, no, I'm not related but I do think we've got it right. In trying to research it, I discovered that someone else with the Find A Grave ID of Lesa Pfrommer has submitted for the link between Catherine Cline and James A. Gilmore to be made. It just hasn't gone through yet.

But here's what I found of a more concrete nature. James married Catherine in 1866 in Buchanan County, Missouri. She died there in 1876. He then married Lucy Frances Deathridge, also in Buchanan County, in 1877. That all works with what's on Find A Grave in terms of places and the children's birth dates and links.

So, like I said, I think we have it right but I do appreciate you calling it to my attention. It never hurts to have a second pair of eyes look through something.
