Updated September 30, 2015|
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC), Elwood, Will Co., Illinois...
Currently "active" burial sections (opened for interments on the dates listed)...
For Cremated Remains:
Section 11, opened October 2012
Section 12, opened October 2012
Columbarium 7 Wall 16, opened September 2015
For Casketed Remains:
Section 15, opened May 2015
When the above gravesites are made presentable with sod and engraved marker stones or niche covers, I'll upload gravesite photographs for these Sections without the need for photo requests.
Note: Please refrain from requesting a photograph until after the professional grounds-keepers have had time to engrave and install marker stones (or niche covers), lay sod, and generally make the gravesites presentable. If I have not uploaded a photo by the 4-month mark, please do request a photo.
Spring/Summer 2015 - The staff has spent the last two summers working diligently to level and re-sod most of the cemetery. They are currently working on Sections 2 and 9. This includes raising the height and leveling thousands of marker stones, then removing the old grass/weeds and their root systems, leveling the ground with new black dirt and laying sod. The sod will need watered for a couple of weeks before it is ready for photographing.
Re-sodding Sections 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 is complete.
Thank you for your patience.
Information - where it belongs...
Biographical information belongs in the "bio" field or in other text fields on the MAIN memorial page.
Please do NOT post pictures of text to any of my memorial pages (Example: Do NOT post pictures of; obituaries, death notices, news paper articles, death certificates, remembrance cards, etc.).
Also, do NOT post biographical information in the Flowers section. This too, belongs in the appropriate text fields on the main page.
Forward the information using the "Edit" tab and appropriate link. I'll ensure it is added to the memorial page in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.
Do NOT post non-photograph graphics to the photo section (such as military emblems, membership emblems, flags, candles, etc). These types of graphics waste the 5 free "photo" slots provided by findagrave.com.
Family members should NOT have to sponsor a memorial page (cost $5.00) in order to upload a favorite picture simply because someone uploaded a non-photograph graphic or a picture of text to the photos section of the memorial page.
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This does not include Cousins, Aunts or Uncles. Nor does it include your neighbor or BFF.
You need not ask for a transfer if your "Contributions to Find A Grave" on your profile page shows an insignificant effort at "Pay-it-forward."
"The goal at Find A Grave should NOT be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."

Please respect my photographs, they are for your personal use only. Do NOT copy them to this or any other website; do NOT sell them, or otherwise attempt to profit from their use without written permission.
For example: Do NOT charge your relatives a "handling" or "printing" fee to obtain a copy of your family tree if it contains one of my photographs.
In summary, do NOT take credit for any photograph that you did not physically take yourself.
I graduated from Freeport Area High School, PA in 1971 and spent the next year at a technical college in Columbus, OH.
I received my physical notice from the draft board in the spring of 1972 and in August that year I followed in my father's foot steps, joining the US Navy (he put in 24 years before retiring as a CTCM in 1969). I spent 8 years as a submarine qualified nuclear electrician on both Fast Attack and Ballistic Missile Submarines. In October 1980 I was honorably discharged as an EM1(SS).
I spent the next 28 years working in the civilian nuclear power industry in both Ohio and Illinois. Most of that time in the training department as a Reactor Operator Licensing Instructor.
I retired in August of 2008 after 36 years working in the nuclear power field, including 8 years in Uncle Sam's nuclear Submarine Fleet.
Currently, I live in north-central Illinois, within 2 miles of the intersection of I-80 and I-55.
I enjoy researching my family tree (9,000+ and growing). My father's family is from Allegheny and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Charles County, in southern Maryland.
My family has limbs, branches, and roots that stretch across the United States. Most however, settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California.
I enjoy taking cemetery, historical site, and other photographs. I am willing to assist with reasonable gravesite and non-gravesite photo requests; I will also consider the unreasonable requests.

I just put up photo of Jesse's grave marker and wanted to let you know that his wife Eloise Dandy is buried with him and her details are on the back of Jesse's stone. If you put up a memorial for her I will add the photo. She was born 4/16/1921 and died 6/25/2015.

I was wondering if you'd be willing to transfer management of 69184937 (Dorothy H. Puza) to me. She was my paternal grandmother and there are extensive edits I would like to make to her memorial page. Thanks.

Thank you for the speedy action, and most especially, for the gracious attribution in your listing.
Would you mind adding Doug's mother: Constance Isabel Hussey Haney 152593721 as his parent, I'm unable to do so---you are also welcome to transfer his memorial to me if you wish. I am his sister but was adopted out before his birth.

|Paula Hauske||Transfer request|
Could you please transfer my brother's memorial to me. His name is Gordon Anthony Stigers #150395582. I have submitted birth and death information and linked our parents. Wish to add more to this memorial.
Paula Hauske #466855496
P.S. Thank you for all the work you do on this site.
Thank you for taking the photo. Unfortunately I made a mistake in my relationships. James Glaess (85568941) is the son of Alfred Glaess, Jr [1917-2011] (80901347). Thank you.

|G Shewan||COL Kenneth Block|
I have just discovered that my memorial to COL Kenneth Block, USA (# 102538117) is a duplicate of the memorial that you created (# 100368110).
A Findagrave contributor recently contacted me with COL Block's obituary, which I have reworked into a biography suitable for posting on Findagrave. If you wish to use the biography for your memorial, you are welcomed to do so. It is located on memorial page # 102538117.
Once you have transferred the biography to your memorial page, I will delete my memorial page, since your memorial page was created before mine. I apologize for my oversight. I strive to not create duplicate entries, but in this case I obviously failed.
Thank you for your assistance.
