I have been into genealogy since 1979. I co-authored the Morgan County Cemetery books in the 1980's. I have published a book on my Compton family and my Lynn family. Also other publications for the Morgan County Genealogical Society. |
I have been married for 56 years. We have two children and five grandchildren living and one that died at age two years and a precious 3-year old great-grandson and a one year old great-granddaughter.
I enjoy scrapbooking, cemeteries and photography. If I have entered incorrect information or you have something to add to a memorial, please let me know via the SAC on the memorial. I will be glad to transfer memorials to a member according to FindAGrave guidelines. Send your requests via the SAC on the memorial you want transferred; otherwise I will not transfer.
I love FindAGrave. It is a great way to honor those that are no longer with us and preserve history for future generations.
Please visit baby Zack's memorial and leave him a flower. I miss him so much.

Hi Captain Andy's g g granddaughter again! I think we may be related! I have a Compton from Morgan Co. in line! Rose Elizabeth Compton b. 26 March 1859 married Solomon Thomas Nesmith 14 Dec 1873. She is on findagrave as 51772405. Her father was R D Compton and her mother was a Cooper.
Their daughter Minnie married Sidney Green Parker & their son was Herman Parker who married mabel West. So my Morgan Co. roots include these names as well as Robinson.
Is RD Compton in your family too? I have no information on them other than Rose.

Thank you for the transfer of memorial # 31841999. When you get a chance, please take a look at the bio I posted.
I believe his mother, Martha Darling McGlathery is also buried in that cemetery but probably in an unmarked grave. She was living with him on the 1850 & 1860 census. His father died about 1819 not long after James was born in Lincoln Co TN. Do you know if there is a record of burials for that church?

You did not find a stone for Mary Pitman because Mary Pitman and M.D. Pitman is the same person.
Thanks for the obit. My husband's grandmother was listed in the obit as Mrs. Douglas Owen of Winter Haven, Florida.
Winter Haven, Florida
Thank you for the feedback; I appreciate your help! Sarah

No kidding. I looked for the stone wall cause with directions simple as that I was thinking it should be right there. We went on the next road over thinking well maybe it's sitting off the road and we could see it from the backside but didn't have much luck either. Guess ill be making another trip. Appreciate the additional info
