My new site is To Find A Grave
I have gone through sleepless nights in search of my ancestors, I can only say "Thank God" for computers and Genealogy.com and Ancestry.com, they have helped me piece together my family Tree,who deliberately, did not want to be found, who lived far from a quite existences, just a private life
Ancestors Who Dance With THE WIND
In the beginning of my search they were like a myth, now they are real to me. I see my ancestors like the grand perplexity of a, kaleidoscopic, and daily I uncover, rare, gemlike, images every piece, moving slowly into place, now each part.. I find a little part of me, in every one of them AND YOU.
Emerging from Anglo-Saxon oral tradition, and composed by an Anonymous scop, or bard, in the 7th century and written down sometime around the 10th century.
Native American Prayer Oh Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to, the entire world, - hear me. I come before you, one of your children. I am small and weak. I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made, my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise, so that I may know the things you have taught my people, the lesson you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers, but to be able to fight my greatest enemy, *MYSELF*. Make me ever ready to come to you, with clean hands and straight eyes, so when life fades as a fading sunset, my spirit may come you without shame.

|Shirley Wadell||Memorial #23265373 Wm Turner Adair|
Hi. I'm wondering if you know any information on Wm Turner Adair & Georgia Ann Yarbrough's daughter Ida May Adair Stephenson? While updating the burial listing from the Graves Co KY Cemetery Book 1, I came across Ida May (Adair) Stevenson buried in Harmony Cemetery. She seems to be the only Stevenson listed there. However, as I searched through Ancestry, trees from this website spell her married name as Stephenson. Plus Graves Co KY Cemetery Book 1 lists her as the following: STEVENSON, Ida May (Adair) Nov 8, 1876 - Mar 24, 1902 wife of M.V. Stevenson. As my research deepen, I noticed that Rootsweb.com has her death date as March 24, 1904 and her marriage date to M.V. Stephenson June 24, 1903. Could M.V. Stephenson be Morgan Stephenson? Did he die in 1904 as well? I'd appreciate any information.
Thank you for your time and support.
|Charlie Snelling||OKelly Whitehead Cemetary|
The description in Find A Grave says that the O'Kelly Whitehead Cemetary in Oglethrope County, Georgia is 300 yards west of HWY 22, .09 mile from the intersection of the Collier Church road and HWY 22. Most of that area is open ground and no cemetary to be found. There is a Webb cemetary back there that is walle in and concreted over. Are you sure it is not 300 yards EAST of HWY 22 instead of WEST? In any case I have been there twice and spoken with the Whiteheads that live at that intersection and cannot find the cemetary. They know nothing of it.
Can you help me.

I have checked at both Union Cemetery and Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield. Neither Elmer, nor his wife Annie, was buried in either one. Since they both apparently died in Riverside, Riverside County, CA, I would suspect they were buried there. I say that, but will keep looking. Never say never.
|Trails of History||Charles Byrd - Memorial# 78765613|
The Charles Byrd that everyone has attached to Margaret Amanda Messer in the 1930 census was the husband of Margaret Juria (Wright) Byrd, daughter of Richard Murphy Wright and Mariah Margaret Stillwell, whom he married 1896 in Swain Co, NC. His children were born in the Nantahala Township of Swain County. He was NOT a husband to Margaret Amanda (Messer) Byrd. She was still single and still living in the home of her parents in the 1920 census. It's unknown who Margaret was supposed to be married to, as there is no formal marriage record for her in 4-counties. Charles and Margaret Juria (Wright) Byrd had the following children: Margaret Albia, May 1897; Mary Mariah, Jun 1898; Austin Elmer, Feb 1900; Ida Pearl, Nov 1901; Ralph Eugene, Apr 1905; Mophia, 1908; and Iola, 1910. Charles and Margaret were still alive in the 1940 census, living back in Nantahala Township, Swain County, NC. They had lived in Union County, SC, Gaston County, NC, Henderson Co, NC and then back to Swain County. It's estimated he died ca. 1944 in Swain County.

I have changed his burial info since you forwarded me the new info. I am also transferring his memorial to you. I am not related and I think it's only right that you should care for his memorial as his descendant.

Hi Myra and thank you for the message.

He is probably buried in the Fly Cemetery that is in Maury County. It is near where the Rogers family lived. To the side of New Hwy 7 & Leipers Creek road in Maury County. That sounds like the area he lived in.

|Shirley Wadell||Wheeler, Alvin D. 1864-1912|
Hi. I would like to add the following information to:
WHEELER, Alvin D.
Feb. 18, 1864 - June 24, 1912
Note: Death Certificate shows that birth and death dates are the same June 24, 1912, but we know that this is untrue because of the tombstone and the death certificate shows he died at the age of 48y 4m 6ds. This would equal to Feb 18, 1864 which the tombstone indicates. Cause of death, 3 shots from a revolver in the hands of Rufus Billington - instant death - Dr. J.W. Forrest "dead when I got there".
Alvin D. Wheeler
Feb 18, 1864 - June 24, 1912
Assassinated by Rufus Billington - he was award a life sentence
Thanks, Shirley :)

Hi, Myra ... You have a very nice memorial for Mr. Roy Yarbrough. (So many of our F.A.G. memorials for military guys don't have any mention of their patriotic service to their country. It's a big deal to me; my father was in the army during W W II, and when he needed nursing home assistance later in his life, he couldn't get a penny because his military records were destroyed in a big warehouse fire. They did manage to send him a military footstone for his grave.) Without tombstone photos, many of our veterans' memorials are without acknowledgement of their self-sacrifice and dedication to their good ole U.S.A. Thanks for your message to me!
