I'm retired and have relocated to Florida (2011). YeY|
If there are any changes, corrections, or additions to a relative or friends entry you stumble across that I have done, feel free to email me. I love the 'edit' tab and corrections are really easy for me with that feature on findagrave. TRANSFERS - Unfortunately, I don't really appreciate the approach that a memorial needs transfer because you (not a direct family member) possess additional information which only can be added if transferred. Comes off as a little bogus at this end. As long as I'm alive and not a stroke victim, I can add whatever is passed along. Extensive information also understood and accepted as a valid reason to transfer. Etiquette always plays well.
FORT SNELLING NATIONAL transfers: I did the 2003 picture for the cemetery back when it had no picture. At last check it is still the one that is automatically attached to a FindAGrave (FAG) memorial when added. I have one memorial at Fort Snelling, Dorothy Rose Payne. None of the other memorials at Fort Snelling on FAG are mine. So I can't transfer what is not mine. End of story.
RANT Warning! ! ! Don't get me started on abbreviations; too late. I don't like abbreviations, I think people who use them are lazy and inconsiderate. Lazy! Inconsiderate! Yes, because when you can go to a memorial and read through it because it just flows due to the author using their fingers and typing out actual words. It looks so nice. Feels so good to know what you're reading. Then there are those who abbreviate this and that leaving behind cryptic memorials of this generation. Just think what people 100 years later will face when they come up against abbreviations that were popular in 1995 2012 2020 but will have to spend a good amount of time trying to find a rosetta stone of popular abbreviations throughout the last 100 years. And wouldn't you know, the one you made up won't be there. They would email and ask - BUT YOU'RE DEAD! It's so nice to read and know rather than read and wonder what the author was trying to say. There, that's why people who abbreviate are lazy and inconsiderate. Whoo, I feel better!
I realize many of you have Type Alpha personalities and want what you want RIGHT NOW. I don't arbitrarily delete messages. So I will get around to them. If I have questions or disagreements I will respond.

Thank you for the transfer

Thank you for accepting the links and additions that I sent to you for some memorials at the Highland Cemetery in Prairie Village, KS. I truly appreciate you doing this for me. :) Susan
SMG: I was just out at the cemetery, they've removed that beautiful stone sign (picture you posted on Find-A-Grave) at the entrance off Truman Road. They have two ugly signs on either side of the drive now. When will they learn "new" isn't always better. (Sept 2008)
GBern.O: I know SMG, I always liked that majestic stone from way back. Mt Washington certainly has had its share of problems in the recent past. I have an aunt, (loved her dearly), there. Mary F Foster 1920-1976
SMG: Unfortunately, my very first memorial was for a grandson who is buried at Mt Washington. I found this site looking for some way to vent my grief. Mt Washington is such a beautiful cemetery....it's sad they have so many problems. The entrance from Truman Rd, where the stone sign used to be, is permanently closed now. Because of the security issues, the only way in (by car) is past the office. As if. Oh well, the stone lives on via Find A Grave.

As you wish - I will continue to manage his memorial. Yes, Robert's death WAS such a preventable tragedy.

I just received a note from findagrave.com that you are now sponsoring the memorial for Robert and wanted to send you this note of appreciation for your lovely gesture.
I just reread the obituary and believe that you are perhaps Robert's father. If that is correct, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your son. I was also wondering if you would like me to transfer management of Robert's memorial to you.
|Steven Elkins||RE: O'Malley|
She is my great grandmother. George Clinton Elkins (her son) is my grandfather. I was named after him, Steven Clinton Elkins. Anthony and Bridget our my great great grandparents.
If you have any family history, pictures, stories, anything you could share I'd very much appreciated. Thank You
