I've refrained from adding hundreds of photos because the memorials already had perfectly serviceable shots. If I've added one to yours, consider it in the spirit intended--an addition. If you feel it makes your shot look bad, that's something for you to consider. I'm not some ego-tripping cuckoo bird, flitting around depositing photos on other memorials willy-nilly. I post for a reason, and you don't have to agree with that reason. I welcome additional shots, as the FAQ encourages us to do. The FAQ also states that "not liking" a shot is not a reason to demand its removal. Shame on the bullies.

Thank you to the many people whose aim is to catalogue graves and help folks be remembered. And a different kind of "you" to folks who push others around and violate the rules because they believe themselves better. A recent experience with a member refusing edits unless I removed a grave photo I'd added has really upset me. I don't take bullying well. This isn't the first time I've come across self-important, ego-driven individuals here who seem to think they own memorials. But it's frustrating, and it really does take the joy out of things. I find, more and more, that certain folks suck all the air out of the Find A Grave room, and I truly dread having to interact with them at all. Unlike the guy who brags that this is just something done for fun, accuracy be hanged, I do actually shoot for accuracy rather than glory. I have fun with the excursions, but my goal is always to best present a memorial so folks seeking out family/ancestors gain something from the experience. Some folks?

Not so much.

Thank you very much for Virginia's transfer. I could not research them very well with them being in Virginia. Thanks for being so thoughtful.

RE: Proposed edit to #127161363
Hi Krista I have a question are you actually working on burials in Congressional I noticed you have pictures of graves if so are you taking request? I am looking for Mary's husband Thomas Wells I have a strong feeling he is there since Mary and most of his children are there. The only problem is I am unable to get to the cemetery. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I was the Cemetery and double check, since you have the death date, just to be sure, since, sometimes the Headstone Application can be inaccurate.

RE: Julius and Lillie Hilgard (84639952)

Hi Kris,

I'm fascinated by how much back and forth activity occurred between Congressional Cemetery and Oak Hill Cemetery.

Anyway, I did some preliminary research there are five people buried in Oak Hill Cemetery who are probably children of Julius and Katherine Hilgard.

The children are:

Lillie Hilgard d. 1861
Frederick Eugene Hilgard d 1880 age 27 years
Kate d. 1866
Julius d. 1858
Eleanor Hilgard age 23 buried 1883.

From my preliminary research, using transcribed records, I can't identify the third child that was interred in Congressional on April 1858.

So obviously I need to dig a little deeper into the original records to see if I can identify the third person. I'll be back in touch after I've done my research.

Hi! I was looking over some Congressional records, and I found the following:

(Child of J.E.) i. 29 Jun 1858 R83/106 Removed to Oak Hill Cemetery on 5 Jul 1866

(Child of J.E.) i. 11 Apr 1861 R83/106 Removed to Oak Hill Cemetery on 5 Jul 1866

J. E. i. 30 Apr 1858 R83/106 Removed to Oak Hill Cemetery on 5 Jul 1866

Now, I can see that one of these is Julius, and another is Lillie. That leaves a third child of J.E., also originally interred 1858, unidentified. Do you have some insight, or should there be another child with a memorial linked to the family? If there does need to be another, feel free to create it if you wish, or I will if you don't.

Thank you!

RE: Thank you
You are welcome. I think it is horrible what they did. Why not just turn it over to someone else to manage rather than delete all those wonderful memorials.

I have been "following" them for several years and have told findagrave multiple times and requested that they suspend their account. I think part of the issue was them being sold/taken over by and therr was just a lot to do.

I am glad they FINALLY took it over.

It was /is a LOT of work to redo those memorials that were deleted (destroyed is a very apt word) and to relink siblings and parents. What affected me the most was that they were ALL related to my husband's family tree so it was far more hurtful. I would have loved them transferred to me.

I was just lucky that I did keep a print of each memorial that I have ever requested edits for and kept a copy of the headstone shot for my personal records "incase" of anything. And that "incase" happened, so I was able to provide findagrave with a lot of the headstone shots and relinking was not so painful.

I was hoping that the comment on each memorial I reconstituted would provide information to anyone else that came across the name and then found the # different and/or information different.

Glad to see others feel like I do about this situation
