I have added these memorials, mostly from the historic cemeteries of Charleston to memorialize all the individuals who have contributed to Charleston's past.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I just found out yesterday January 21, 2010 that internments of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial in Charleston. There are others who did transcriptions, but I am not aware who they are. If someone knows, I would be glad to acknowledge them in this profile.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

You have two pictures of stones on this grave in Magnolia Cemetery. I cannot read these inscriptions. Can you possible look at the original pics and see if they can be read; or, perhaps visit the cemetery and transcribe them? It would be much appreciated if you could do this. We are trying to determine the County in Ireland where James was born. Thank you.

Kinahan Cornwallis
There is another listing for Kinahan Cornwallis, giving the same death date, but his correct birth date. Could you please remove this listing?

Thank you for your help. Anne Brown, Trustee, New York Marble Cemetery

This is my GG Grandfather and I recall when I visited the Second Presbyterian church yard many years ago the headstone was quite readable as is you photo. Last week when I visited the slab was almost black, covered, I guess, with lichen or algae. Do you recall when you took the photo and did you do anything to clean the slab prior to photography?

RE: Mary Haskell Lemon
She is only a third cousin of mine, so it's not important to transfer the memorial to me. But I have her obituary, which I'll send you so that you can add it to the memorial.

Could you please move your photo from 37246574 to Louisa Raoul 23353709? The first is a duplicate and I'll ask to have it removed but dont want to lose your photo.

Benjamin Moodie
Do you have any other information on Benjamin Moody and his family? I have found some information on him and trying to see if he is in my line.
Thank You Rachel Moody

Robert Heriot Clarkson
Has been added to Trinity as the husband of Mary Mayrant Clarkson. It is logical for him to be there, but I didn't see a stone and if he is listed in the survey, I overlooked it. Maybe he's in one of those above the ground crypts that are so difficult to photograph- quite a few are unreadable. Would you please have a look and edit me on his details?
