Re: Howard W Merrill @ Poplar Grove
Howard Wellington Merrill was my Great Grand Uncle. So, I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see the memorial you set up for him on Find A Grave. I only found it a month ago after searching for years, and this past week visited the site leaving an American flag at the head of the stone. I have added his photograph in uniform and the stone/w flag. I also added his birth date. I'm in process of editing his death date which was March 26 not the 27 (I do have original documents to this fact). If possible, I am requesting to have you change/add a few other items: His age at enlistment was 19. He was in the 1st Battalion, 7th Maine Light Artillery. On January 1, 1865 he writes from "Front of Petersburg". January 12 he writes from Fort Sedgewick. January 27th his letters are to be addressed to Headquarters, Artillery Brigade, 9th Army Corps Washington, D.C., leaving off "7th Maine Battery". At age 20, he died of "fever" in hospital on March 26. Thought you might find this of interest. Thank you so much for the memorial you set up for him.

RE: Mills cemetery, Springfield
There is one damaged stone that I can make out only the middle initial/last name of W. Dolley. Possibly reads 11th Maine and died in Washington, D.C. on Dec.16, 1861. 25 years old.

Hi...noticed the flowers you left on this memorial indicate enlistment date of Feb 27, 1863. Found his Togus residential record which indicates an enlistment date of Feb 19, 1863. I removed the note about U.S. Navy from the memorial creator.

Headstone has him being killed in the Battle of the Wilderness on May 14, 1863. Is this the right person?

there is a discrepancy in dates. You have that he went on disability in june 1865 but he died in april of 1865. did you mean 1864 or is the date of death incorrect. you can use edit button to respond.

Weston Page
I looked for the grave of Weston Page at Baton Rouge National Cemetery. Since he is not listed on the VA website list, I looked in some sections where I knew there were a number of Civil War soldiers from Maine and Vermont. I did not find him, but will continue to look. We have found a few graves there that were not listed by the VA. Unfortunately, there are also many unknown Civil War soldiers. A few Catholic soldiers were buried at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery nearby, but he is not listed there, either.

I unclaimed the request because there are a couple of other volunteers who photograph that cemetery who are better than I am at finding graves. Hopefully one of us can find him!

I reported this problem on your request and now the request is gone.... Hopefully the system is just updating, but you might want to check it.

Other Dolleys in Loveitt Cemetery

I am about to fulfil your Loveitt Cemetery photo requests. I found a few other Dolleys in the same area of the cemetery:

Louise Dolley 1868-1918
Huldah Dolley 1818-1856 (wife of John)
Joseph E Dolley d 8/29/1863 @ 11 wks (son of John & Nancy)

Let me know if you will be requesting photos/creating memorials for them.
