I have been interested in family history and the history of O'Hara Township for many years, I am a stockholder of Greenwood Cemetery, on the Board of Managers, secretary to the Board of Managers and historian for Greenwood Cemetery in O'Hara Township, Allegheny County PA, near Sharpsburg and Pittsburgh. |
The main list of facts for all memorials will be the burial permits filled out by the local funeral home and the state of PA death certificates. In some cases, the dates of birth are from the SSDI, Social Security Death Index, however there are inconsistencies within that file which may not agree with state of PA data, so help me with specific dates if you can. These other files may contain dates of birth which need to be confirmed, but were the best information available at the time of death. Like census records, sometimes ages, etc were provided by neighbors instead of family members.
If a memorial states "No Tombstone" please do NOT request a tombstone photo unless you KNOW (as in you paid for)that one has been placed within the last 6 months. ALL existing tombstones in Greenwood have been photographed and posted.
Due to some people on the site, I am now restricting information available on the memorials. Information on children will only be available to family members. After 1966, no personal info will be posted without a relative's permission, following the rather old-fashioned wait of 70 years for release of data. No dates will be changed on the memorials without official proof that there are documents which show a different date. All info is from the state of PA and the US government after 1906.
Please understand that there are many people out there with the same name as the person you are researching. So don't send info if you have not identified the person extensively with other information.
I have recently had surgery and while I recuperate, I will not be doing any extensive research.

Please disregard that previous message, as I just noticed that the marker says "also infant son"--thanks for adding it!

That picture is for Olive, and you have already added it to her page. Please remove it from this page--thanks!
|Shirley McMunn||Eloise Estep #110413427|
My name is Shirley McMunn. I was wondering if you would transfer Eloise to me. She is my husband's aunt. She was the daughter of John and Ruth McMillen and sister to Dorothy McMunn, my mom-in-law. I contacted Smith Funeral Home and they told me that Eloise's cremains had been buried with a group of 158 souls. We appreciate you creating this memorial to her. It the thoughtfulness of the Find A Grave members that helps us get thru tough times. Please consider transferring her to us. Thank you. My member # is 46527116

Dear Diane, You are really a treasure. Thanks so much for taking your time to help me as well as many, many others with your service. Keep up the good work and make a quick recovery. Ruth

Diane, Hope your feeling better. Thanks so much for checking this for me. Would the cemetery be able to give me the location of the grave?
|Denise Stroup||William A Stroup|
Is my grandfather and is not buried in the First Congregational Church cemetery as stated. I was in Pittsburgh Labor Day and visited the church office. The land was donated to the church in 1929, so no burials there before then. We were shown the list of folks buried in their cemtery too - no Stroups. I would love to know where he is buried. The entire purpose of our trip was to find gravesites and genealogical info. We came home with two death certificates and found no graves :o(. thank you
Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the ok on the photos. I learned my lesson the hard way about sharing photos on Ancestry. I always list find a grave as the source and then list the photographer. Thanks again. Have a good one-Marsha
