Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm blessed to be married to the best husband in the world, am the mother of 2 wonderful daughters and grandmother of 8 beautiful grandchildren. I am also a Professor of Nursing at a state university.

Genealogy is a hobby that began when I was a child and was allowed to explore the attic of my grandparents home (circa 1866). I found old pictures, store ledgers, Bibles, books, letters, etc., that dated back to the mid 1800's. My grandmother located the family history work by Bertha Sockwell Blackwood and from there, I was hooked! Whenever I get a spare minute (which doesn't happen often enough!) I grab a camera and head to a cemetery or I bury myself in family data on!

I am happy to make transfers to family members and to very close friends who can add personal stories or information to the memorial . I also try to make all edits requested but i do request your patience. It make take some time for me to do so.

Mary McKierman Donigan
Hi Wanda:
I sent you an "edit" to correct the maiden name of Mary Donigan. The newspaper article that is attached to her memoriam has her maiden name spelled incorrectly. It should be McKiernan, not McKierman.
I have her marriage records typed and then signed by her and it's definitely with an "n" and not an "m".
Thanks so much.

D.S. Phillips
Thank you for posting the newspaper notice of his death. He signed the marriage bond of my great-grandfather, William Robert Phillips. I cannot find out who the parents of William Robert Phillips (my gg-grandparents) are. Would you have any information about this? I do not know how D.S. and William Robert might have been related. Thank you!

RE: Claude A. McGinnis, Jr.
Wanda, How many Claude A McGinnis, Jr., born 1900, died 1965, have you found in the McGinnis family?

I would like to know more about this Claude A & Mary Elizabeth McGinnis, buried in the Owingsville Cemetery, in order to add more info to their memorial.

God Bless

RE: Claude A. McGinnis, Jr.
Wanda, I would order the Claude A McGinnis born Jan 16, 1900, died March 1965, Fort Lauderdale, Broward Co., death certificate. You can order death certificate thru
I think the cost is $12.00 per copy from the state of FL., + other cost mailing, handily cost.

I'm almost sure the Claude A McGinnis buried in the Owingsville Cemetery is the same Claude A McGinnis who was born Jan 16, 1900, died March 1965... I believe 1st wife Rebecca died after 1941, and Claude remarried this Mary Elizabeth. Or its possible Claude and Rebecca were divorced.

In 1930 & 1940, Rebecca was listed as not working. 1930, Claude was a contractor for office building... they are renting from her parents Lee and Mary Ashcraft.... in 1940, Rebecca is not working, Claude is working as a salesman for a fertilizer company.

I followed Claude and Rebecca thru the census, last I found Rebecca, listing in the city directory 1941,living at 424 Pine Valley Rd, NW, Atlanta GA.

RE: Obit for S.S.Broadus
Thank you, Wanda. I think you are providing a wonderful service. I've been looking for descendants of S.S. Broadus, a branch of my family that seems to have been lost by the rest of the tree. This is the kind of information that is so helpful.

Best wishes, Betsy

RE: Claude A. McGinnis, Jr.

After doing a little research, I'm quite sure the Claude A McGinnis, Jr., you are looking for is Claude Augustus McGinnis, the same Claude A McGinnis, JR., buried in the Owingsville cemetery. Married 1st to Rebecca... According to one of the census, I think the 1940, Claude was a traveling Salesmen.

I believe Claude' 1st wife Rebecca died and Mary Elizabeth is Claude' 2nd wife.If you check FL., and KY., death index for Mary Elizabeth, she lived in Lexington, KY., died in Sarasota, FL. Claude also died in FL.

My guess is Mary Elizabeth is from Owingsville, and had family buried in the Owingsville Cemetery, that is why she had Claude' body return to Bath Co.... she and Claude may have had children together.

You can order both Claude and Mary Elizabeth' death certificate... but don't order thru ancestry, there are cheaper ways to order DC.

If I can be of any more help please let me know.

God Bless

Harece Hood
Wanda, I was driving by the Mount Joy church in Phil Campbell recently and looked through the cemetery. I took pictures of two recent graves (no tombstones yet) I looked them up on Find A Grave and saw that you had done both memorials. One is Carolyn Parker which you have listed in Butler Cemetery. After doing some research I think the name of the cemetery at Mt. Joy is named Butler Cemetery. The other grave was Harece Hood. I noticed you had him at Mt. Joy in Marion Co which is close to Winfield. Thought you would want to know so you could edit his memorial to Butler Cemetery. I wish these funeral homes would give more cemetery detail on obits.
