I volunteer at Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls and my current project is applying for replacement markers for worn and damaged Civil War headstones. I have some limited access to St. Mary's/Sacred Hearts Cemetery, (which are adjacent to Oakwood) too, although most of their records have been destroyed and the cemetery is in ill repair.|
St. Joseph's, Holy Trinity and Gate of Heaven (Lewiston) are not far away and within my travel range for photo requests. Please try to provide grave section/area info. These are HUGE cemeteries. Call the cemetery office, tell them you are from far away and ask they provide you with the info so you can send someone else to get the photo. Most places will do one or two requests for FREE. After more than a couple, however, be prepared to pay some sort of fee.
Riverdale and Accacia Park will NOT process requests for Find A Grave photographers and are particularly unfriendly about it. Call them and get the grave location and put it in your photo request. These cemeteries want to charge photographers if they go in and ask for help. For one or two requests, they MIGHT do it over the phone for YOU. Remember: your family BOUGHT plots there. They work for YOU.
Visit my Virtual Cemetery "Oakwood's River Folks" for folks who have died stunting at The Falls or in The Niagara River and then stop by and say hi to my recently departed best friend, Eilean "Ellie" Lyonhil Donan in the Virtual Cemetery, "Beloved Friends".

That is kind of you! Don't know if we will ever be that far north again, but we did love the area--and will write then to take you up on it! I clicked on your virtual cemetery to see the lady who lived after the Falls--and the 8 year old and her 22 year old rescuer who didn't.
Take a look at #107735814--this man started in Vermont, but his grave was lost until we saw a small white patch in a remote Nebraska cemetery. The National Archives are pretty cool too!

We want to thank you for your help. We never would have guessed what was needed, and the link you provided was wonderful. We live in Nebraska. We drove home from your area 1060 miles in one day--enjoyed our stay, were wowed by Niagara Falls, took a ride on the Erie Canal, loved seeing the autumn leaves and meeting people in New England, but were ready to go home. Mr B did the driving; I read newspapers (including obits)--and again, thank you so much!

Thank you very much for the pictures of Stone and Terry. It means a lot to our family. I especially like the picture of Jessica and her Grandfather's grave together. You have a good eye for taking pictures. Thanks again.

OK, I know where the others are, but I am looking for Hannah's husband, Fred Coons. You can always talk to Dave Wendt. He's the cemetery's administrator.

I didn't add the picture of Jessica, FloB did. I transferred control to her, as she - probably knew her more than I did.
