With much of my immediate family growing in and around the Washington D.C area for generations, I was never overly curious about family history. After a friend who was more interested than I found photos of relatives gravesites in other states who were born during the time of Andrew Jackson I was amazed. Even a marker for my grandmother's unnamed infant son which I had seen in home movies had been photographed by someone.|
I am most familiar with Arlington Cemetery, Oak Hill and Cedar Hill Cemetery on Pennsylvania Avenue. I have taken many photos for my own enjoyment and for friends over the years, but realize others are often not so near.

This is what I have from her baptism record

She is on the 1850 census only.
The interment book I have does not have any dates for 1850-1858

|L Ferree||Dellzells in Holy Rood|
Thanks for the various info. Hard to research since most died before 1850. I did find a census record for a "Dalzell" family. James, age 36 (as transcribed - I think it should be 56 - would still be a decade off what the tombstone says). No wife is listed - which would fit with Flora being his wife, as she died 5 years earlier.) Children are Catherine, age 15 (could be Kate Dellzell Duffy?), Sarah, age 10, and John, age 23 (also fits with the John in Holy Rood). They are living next door to Robert, 25, Sarah, 23, and James, age 2. Also living with the second family is Elizabeth Clark (also looks like 56 or 36). They are all living in Rockville, Montgomery, Maryland.

Eliza's baptism says she is born Dec 30 1849.
She is only on the 1850 census with her parents.
Then the interment book states there were no entries from 1850 until 1858. And I did not see her from 1858-60.

The other thing Jane & William's oldest son was born Oct 7 1838 and baptized on the 9th at Holy Trinity yet Jane was not baptized until 7/4/1839 the exact date she and William were married in the Catholic Church which leads me to believe her parents were not of the Catholic Faith and William or someone convinced her she should join his faith.

I looked at the group photo you placed today with the Mary Virginia Brown Headstone which appears to say she passed in Feb of 1871 but oddly enough she is not in the Sacramental Registry for 1871, According to the Sacramental Register that contains the marriage of Jane Brown & William Hunter her parents are Avender Brown & Jane Brown ( these registers give the mothers maiden name ) so it would appear they may have been cousins.

Wanted to tell you about Mary Burroughs O'Brien,
wife to Richard. Since you linked him to his parents, I thought you might be interested in linking her with at least her mom.
Her mother, also Mary Burroughs, is buried at Congressional Cemetery under the monument of the women killed in the 1864 DC Arsenal explosion.
Mary Burroughs (mom) was born in 1817 to William B. and Sarah Russell. In 1849 Mary Russell marries Philip H. Burroughs. In 1858 Philip was shot, and later died from the wound, leaving Mary a widow.
He is buried At St. Andrews in St. Mary's county where they lived.
She moves to DC and eventually gets a job at the Arsenal. When she is killed it left young Mary, who they called Molly, an orphan.
She is put in St. Vincent's orphanage and later goes to live with some Russell cousins. Then in 1883 marries Richard.

|Marcia Lynne vonGunden||Transfer and a big thank you|
Thank you for your generosity in transferring:
Josephine Daly Perrell # 114769788
to my care.
I have successfully connected her with her parents, two of her 12 siblings, and one of her two children. Looks like I have a lot to go yet.
As I receive more information, I will add it to Our shared memorial.
With sincerest appreciation,
