With much of my immediate family growing in and around the Washington D.C area for generations, I was never overly curious about family history. After a friend who was more interested than I found photos of relatives gravesites in other states who were born during the time of Andrew Jackson I was amazed. Even a marker for my grandmother's unnamed infant son which I had seen in home movies had been photographed by someone.|
I am most familiar with Arlington Cemetery, Oak Hill and Cedar Hill Cemetery on Pennsylvania Avenue. I have taken many photos for my own enjoyment and for friends over the years, but realize others are often not so near.

I will let you go ahead and enter them if you don't mind.
I still would like to meet you some time and help you if I can. I also have some cousins in the general area and a nephew in DC that maybe could help.
As I mentioned my son and his family live in Glover Park, maybe we could enlist some neighbors.

How did you ever get that upright. It would have
been extremely heavy.
Thank you so much.
I live in Crofton, MD and my son and family live there in Glover park. I would be happy to meet you there sometime and help you do whatever.
Have you ever contacted Georgetown to get them to do something?
I think this cleanup should be organized and not fall on just one or two people.
Congressional Cemetery has done it. It was in great disrepair and has come back to looking great with lot of volunteers.
PLEASE contact me and I will come over. I am retired so I could come on your schedule.
I have the list of who is there in the site (got it from Georgetown U.) will hunt it up and send.

I have been to Holy Rood looking for this stone.
At the site we found a stone (like this one), but
it was face down. Did it look to you that this had
recently been turned upside right?
Thank you for the picture. It is definitely my
2nd great grandfather and his family, along with my
great uncle James Murray.

Fact is that I am not a family member of the Gross family, but a good friend is. Due to some memorials that I posted from his ancestors, I was contacted by another Gross family descendant. That got me looking at the materials that I had gathered several years ago and I added a couple more names to Holy Rood.
Thanks for adding photos to my records.

Just wondering if you have a family connection to the Gross family or did you just photograph the grave and post it. I am trying to get as much information on the Gross family of Georgetown as possible. Also, from the way you wrote the bio on the memorial it almost sounds as if you have a photograph of the family or were you referring to the gravestone?
Thank you so much. Looks like a very peaceful place in the middle of Washington D.C.
I appreciate the time you took to figure out the place without a marker.

I was astonished and delighted to notice the picture you posted of the cleaned up headstone of my gg grandmother. Did you do that? It looks great! This lady has scores of descendants around the metro area, and you have done us all a great service for which we thank you.

Can you help me locate a husband and wife that passed away in DC? It seems that DC has that 50 year rule about obtaining a copy of a Death Certificate, which is keeping me from finding their burial location. Could you access the Obits in the Library?
Please help me if you can.
