I was introduced to Find a Grave about 2000 by a cousin. Together we tried to add as many members of our family as we possibly could. It wasn't long before my cousin became the subject of his own memorial page. Eventually, I realized that there was more I could do than just search for my own family. So, I began trying to add photos whenever I could. Recently I became involved in a cemetery project in my area. A friend and I began searching through the hills, bushes and briers for long abandoned cemeteries, adding what we find to Find a Grave. |
Find a Grave is a great site for people who are researching their family. We have made it our goal to do whatever we can to make it the very best it can be.

Thank you... The names I added were stones visable in 1968... They may not be standing or there any longer.
Like our county her we have a cemetery right on the county line and Dona Ana includes it in their cemetery listing and Sierra includes it in theirs which adds to confusion... So thank you, this is one and the same cemetery and I will make a note in my DAR book

I noticed you have a photo posted of this cemetery that Find A Grave says is located:
I have a book published by the DAR in 1968 that shows the location of this cemetery in GRANT County on Kentucky State Road 1032.
Can you clarify?
Are the Find A Grave names posted to the wrong cemetery?
Or is it on the county line? I have names to add to the cemetery but dont want to add if not the same cemetery..

Depends on which Louisa you mean. According to my grandfather his parents were William Miller and (El)Louisa Carpenter. My research, verified by a 2nd cousin, shows that William died in a cave-in about 1881. Louisa remarried with widower John Lewis Steele in 1885 in Mason county, W.V.

I appreciate your effort so much.

I suggest you look more carefully at the memorial, it is marked as a cenotaph.

Did you photograph all existing headstones in this cemetery?

Just came across this cemetery, your cemetery photo is quite striking.
|Family Finder||RE: 5041154|
According to Spring Hill Cemetery records and information sent with the photo request, Mattie is buried in Section C, lot 37, grave 11. Muscoe T VanArsdale is buried in Section C, lot 37, grave 10, which is the grave next to Mattie. Mattie is buried in the next grave to his right and the grave is not marked. The stones in the photo are for Ada Mae VanArsdale, grave 9 and Muscoe's second wife and for Muscoe Vanarsdale. Muscoe is buried in Section C, lot 37 grave 10 between his 2 wives.
The above is based on cemetery records and an on site search. We could not find a marker for Mattie. If you do not want the photo posted, let me know and I will delete it, but the lot next to Muscoe is where she is buried according to the records and we could not find a marker.
