Will transfer memorials within Find-a-Grave guidelines only. Please request transfers using the edit tab and then "Suggest a correction" as this will give both the memorial number to be transferred and your member number.

"...Transfer requests will be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."

"...Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred."

Helpful Hints for Researching in Southwest Washington:

The Social Security Death Index does NOT give the death location. It gives the last known contact location. Ie., The SSDI gives the location as Battle Ground, Washington - While this may be where the person resided (or where benefits were sent), if the person died in a hospital in Clark County, his / her death location would be Vancouver - since both hospitals are located in Vancouver.

Because of Clark County, Washington's proximity to Portland, Oregon, you will find many Vancouver or Clark County residents actually died in Oregon. You can check the Oregon Death index (up to 1998) on FamilySearch; and the Washington Death index (up to 2014) on Washington Digital Archives.

Also, please note if you are using the Washington Death Index provided by Ancestry.com as the death location source, it MAY not be accurate. They have utilized the death index records from the Washington Digital Archives website in their index. The problem is that the Social Security Death Index is included on the Washington Digital Archives site in addition to the actual Washington Death Index. So the database on Ancestry is a combination of the two, and may give the wrong death location since the SSDI is "last contact" (not death location).
