Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm Peter Hakze, residing in the city of Almere in the center of the Netherlands, 15 miles east of Amsterdam. Since about 1985 I'm investigating a.o. my mother's family Van der Tuin (= Of the Garden). In March/April 1893 Johannes van der Tuin and his wife Margje Groen (= Green) emigrated with their children from NL to South Dakota, Charles Mix County, Edgerton (or Overijssel), a settlement near Platte. Margje's parents and siblings Groen emigrated at the same time to the same place. I'm interested in all what happened there to them, so if you have some info for me which isn't already on my Rootsweb site, I would be very grateful.
Since a few years I'm also very interested in all other Dutch families that emigrated from the Netherlands to the USA and Canada incl. their descendants and I like very much to improve their FAG memorials with more info and photos, create new memorials for them and link them to their ancestors in the Netherlands.

RE: Spreeuw
Die Spreeuw is alleen omdat ik die begraafplaats in Driehuis in kaart breng voordat die wordt geruimd.

Well, it's not far.

Hi, do you have plot numbers for the two Spreeuw family members in De Zilk?

RE: headstone photo requests at Fairmount-Willow Hills
I will try again. Maybe next time I can get more help from someone else in the office.

headstone photo requests at Fairmount-Willow Hills
You have a few requests for headstone photos to be taken at Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial Park.
Unfortunately, this cemetery is very strict about only giving grave locations to family members.
If you can call and find out the grave locations and then either add it to your memorial pages or message me direct I will be glad to go out and take photos for you. The cemetery office phone number in the United States is 1-708-839-8500.

No need to transfer her memorial back to us. Glad to have you manage her memorial.

G. L. Tempel
I have created memorial #144757367. It is a "G L Tempel" I believe it is the son of Grace and Louis, the picture I posted is another side of Grietje's (her husband's grave is not to be found or listed, I think he died much later and remarried as well). I can't make out whether the stone is for two people, the top part of the stone was cut out of the photo (for zooming purposes) all it said was G. L. TEMPEL... anyway, I think it might be George Tempel?

RE: Auwerda
You're welcome, Peter. I took pictures in that section on Sunday and will be adding more in the coming days.

RE: Grietje Tempel, headstone
Birth and death info was given in the cemetery records, and they had the death date off by a decade ( must have read stone as 1888 instead of 1899) I will transfer it to you, there is another side of the stone with a person on it, assuming it is her husband, but it is much harder to read, and I can barely tell what it says. I will photograph it hopefully in good light (I doubt it will be legible even then) but thank you for clearing that up for me! I was so confused, and like I said the cemetery gave really bad dates, I don't even think Louis is listed in the records but I will check.

Translation Help?
I came across an older Temple/Tempel stone #144589963. I believe gebt means born, but I am trying to figure out if the date given is a death or birth date, since it lists the age at death as well.... The cemetery records listed the birth date as December 14 1825, but I thought maybe you could enlighten me on this since I don't really understand it? I also can't figure out her relation to any other Temple's in Fulton.
