Live in Modesto, CA, married, twin sons, and enjoy genealogy. I am happy looking up my relatives and friends that have passed on, and leaving notes and flowers.|
My mother was always working on her genealogy. It got me interested in our family history for awhile. We are looking for the Head, Hoard, Martins, Nichols, Scott, and Vicente families. I can appreciate those who are looking up their ancestry. It occurred to me that since we visit historical sites now and then that I could help anyone else looking for their family members who have passed on. This was the reason I placed so much work into my submissions in my old account.
Disclaimer: I am just a volunteer photographer, and many of the graves listed in my contributions I never knew, nor their families. If you wish a transfer, just request one, and I will do this for you. Please include your contributor number in your request.

|Doug & Marilyn Parman||RE: Nice to Meet You|
And nice to meet you. I go to the Modesto cemeteries at least once a week. Cemeteries has always been a peaceful place for me. Love it when I find a marker that has been lost for many years. Then a photo bring it to someone who has been searching for their final resting spot.
Please keep my family in your prayers following the loss of my uncle Franklin Rogers, who passed away yesterday from cancer. If you have time I would appreciate virtual flowers for his Find A Grave memorial 128627148. I am very blessed to have my friends on this site. Thank you,

Hi Charlene. I'm hanging in there. Hope you're doing well. Always nice to hear from you!
Hi Charlene, Thank you for asking. We are doing fine. We have had a few deaths in our family over the last few weeks. Hope you are doing well. It's good to see you are still on Find-a-Grave also. Best wishes your friend, Cadmus

Thanks for sending the sweet note. My husband just returned home after spending 12 weeks in the hospital (mostly in ICU), so I haven't been spending much time on Find A Grave lately. Take care, and yes, lets do stay in touch!

Sure! Email me anytime. :-)

Thank you for the link. I read your page and I see that you are not entirely sure if it was indeed your grandfather that immigrated in 1921. I still feel pretty confident that I had found the correct record of his immigration. The record I had sited also lists him as age 24, and your grandfather was listed as Jose Maria Martins in the 1930 Census. Without ordering further documents, I don't think either of us can say for certain which, if either record, is correct though.
I did some checking into Naturalization records, but I did not find your grandfather. I did find a Joe Joaquin Martins who lived in nearby Pinole, but his birth date was wrong and he was naturalized after your grandfather passed away. If naturalization records are of interest to you, NARA is likely your best bet for finding it. I can put it on my list for searches the next time I attend a genealogy conference up in Sacramento (probably in February). Due to budget cutbacks, that is probably the only look up I can do for free while I am there.
I'll keep checking in the meantime.
P.S. Thanks again for sending me a link to your page. I especially enjoyed the pictures!

Do you have the name of the ship your grandfather arrived on in 1921?
|The Genealogy Genie||Thank you|
Bless your heart for leaving a token on my dad's tribute. It's been rough, but knowing that he is no longer suffering brings me some peace.
P.S. I've been out to Carquinez several times this year. I always check for Joseph Martins. The cemetery has recently been cleaned up by the town and so I think that he either did not have a marker or it is no longer there. :-(
