THANK YOU to those of you who submit photos and information that enhance the memorial. I appreciate your kindness and willingness to share.

You have my permission to use my photos for any noncommercial use. I do this so you can enjoy having something of your family member, even if it's just a photo of your family member's marker.

I am not related to the majority of the families of the memorials I manage. I'm not here to collect a large number of memorials either. I simply add what I find in order to help other people find their relatives. So, except for the ones that are near and dear to me, I am willing to transfer memorials to you.

***Pay It Forward***
Genealogy is not done in a bubble. It is a piece of information that was recorded by someone else, someone who doesn't know you, who will probably never meet you and may not even be related to you. It was done just because it may be important to someone someday. Consider doing the same for others. It only takes a moment.

***Creating Memorials***
This website is a place to record where a person is laid to rest. It may be a cemetery, a mantle or donated to science. If you know where that may be, then record it here on Find A Grave. If you don't know where the person is buried then don't create a memorial. That's the difference between this website and a family tree website. The only exception is for a recent death when the location has not been announced yet.

***Do Your Research First***
If you are doing family research and think GGGrandpa and GGGrandma are buried in a certain location because that's where they lived, then contact the cemetery and verify it first. You may be surprised how many people are not buried in the location where they raised their family. *Tip: They may be located in a cemetery near the area where one of the children are living.

***Social Security Death Index (SSDI)***
Please realize that the SSDI does not show where the person died. It shows the last residence recorded at the Social Security Office. Check for a death certificate or the State's Death Record for the location of death.

Thank you
Hello Joanne,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the grave marker transcribing at Evergreen Cemetery. I have been working on this cemetery for over two years and still have over 30,000 left to add. I certainly appreciate your help.

photo success
Thank you so much for the tombstone photo of James Mullane. He is my gg grandfather. I visited Newcastle West this summer where he was born. I could not quite make out all of the words at the bottom of his tombstone. Were you able to read it?

Eva Hanttula
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for fulfilling my photo request for Eva Hanttula's headstone. I keep hoping to make it up that way to do some research, but people like you willing to take the time makes things so much easier. It is truly greatly appreciated!

SS Index
I just had to comment that I'm SO glad you added the tip about the Social Security Death Index listing Last Known Addresses. Many people don't realize this and I've encountered a good number of memorials with the wrong place of death - after a little research, it was obvious to me someone went off the SSDI and not a Death Cert. or State Death Record.

Awesome :)
