I started looking for identity of these strangers in a box....a box of photos belonging to my father who passed when I was a litle girl...(Reynolds, Lee, Baker, Bate, Carrithers, Strickland, Rogers, Potter, Stone)He was a wonderful man adventurous and loved the out doors and he would have loved this technology and I so wish he was here to tell me the family stories again now that I am old enough to pay attention to the details. I am grateful to learn anything I can about our family history of those now gone and to find and chat with a distant cousin is such a blessing. So I have worked on our entire family tree for almost two decades now.|
My mother-in-law who has now passed also entrusted me with her family information (Frantz, Davis) and photos which I think should be available to all.
My Aunts and Uncles have also given me old photos of my mother's family (Gerling, Huot, Barrett, Ferguson, Hoffman) and so want to share them. I love my family and hope to help preserve the memories of those gone. I am thrilled to learn stories about them and sometimes even get a glimpse of a photo or drawing or painting of them.
I know I am not the only one curious about their heritage and am willing to photograph any headstones in my area. I do work full time as a nurse, so give me plenty of time for your requests. Please feel free to use my photos for your family records. I am not a glutton for needing my hard work recognized but if you copy them it is nice to post where you copied the photos for a reference to others... I only post a few on here and I might have more for you... so cousins, please contact me I would love to swap info. If I have your family member on here please write me as I would love to transfer them to you or if you prefer for me to watch over them please give me advice as to what you might like written on their biography page or send me an obituary for them. I truly want their memorials to be available to those interested. God Bless.

|Dunwandrin 1||Cleva Burrows "Dollie" Chamberlin|
The following, is information I have/had (prior to seeing your message), regarding Cleva "Dollie" (Burrows) Chamberlin. Thought it might interest you.
Dollie (as she was called) may have had as many as seven husbands in all! She eventually came to Ferndale, WA also. Here she married Samuel Rockwell who lived in the house in Ferndale that had belonged to Dollie's mother, Emeline. It is thought by some kin, that she married "Sam" just to get that house! Looking at the obits of her siblings, may give us an idea of some of her husbands.
-Mrs. Minnie Stevens,
Former Resident of
Ferndale, Dies here
Mrs. Minnie Stevens died at her home, 2530 Yew Street, early today,aged 63 years. She was a former Ferndale resident and had lived in Bellingham eight years.
Relatives surviving are the husband, W. H. Stevens; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Hansen, Mrs. Paul Sorenson, Bellingham, and Mrs Fred Thednes, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. B. Bockover and Mrs. J. Keller, Ferndale, and Mrs. William ZIMMERMAN, Portland; four brothers, C. M. Burrous, Drue Burrous, and Douglas Burrous, Ferndale, and John Burrous, living in the East.
Funeral announcments will be made by the Monroe mortuary, Ferndale.
MRS. STEVENS PASSES AWAY EARLY ON MONDAY
Mrs. Minnie Stevens, better known to many Ferndale residents and friends as Mrs. William Meekins, for several years a resident here, passed away early Monday morning at her home in Bellingham. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the bellingham Pentacostal church, with Rev. Copley officiating. Interment was made in the Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of the Monroe Mortuary.
Surviving relatives are her husband, W. H. Stevens; four brothers, Charles Burrous, Dru Burrous, Douglas Burrous, all of Ferndale and John Burrous, in the east; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Hansen, Mrs Paul Sorenson, Bellingham; Mrs. Fred Thednes, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. B. Bockover, Mrs. J. Keller, Ferndale; Mrs. William ZIMMERMAN, Portland.
- According to Lewis N.'s newspaper memorial (oldest brother of Cleva), Cleva (Mrs. Dollie CHAMBERLAIN) lived in Portland, OR. Lewis died Feb 1937.
- According to the obit of her brother (Douglas) Sept. 17, 1940, Douglas was survived by "....three sisters; Mrs. J. M. Keller, of Bellingham; Mrs. B. F. Bockover and Mrs. Sam ROCKWELL, both of Ferndale."
- According to the obit of her sister (Hattie Bockover) Feb. 11, 1941, Cleva ROCKWELL lived in Ferndale, WA........." two sisters, Sarah Keller, Bellingham, and Mrs. Sam Rockwell, Ferndale" survived.
- About 1954, C. M. Burrous had a visit from his brother, John Burrous of Bronson, Kansas. A dinner was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. James Roberts. Other guests were: Mr. and Mrs. S. Drue Burrous; and their sister, Mrs. Dollie ROCKWELL.
- According to John Henry's (brother of Cleva) newspaper obit, Cleva CHAMBERLAIN lived in Ferndale, WA, in 1963.
- According to Samuel Drury Burrous' obit (brother of Cleva) July 25, 1967, Samuel was survived by ".....1 sister, Mrs. Cleve Chamberlain of Portland; 1 brother, Charles of Ferndale.....".
Apparently Cleva Chamberlain was a resident of the Columbia Manor Nursing Home, located in Portland, OR. I have located a letter postmarked Oct 23, 1976 (Portland, OK), with a letter from Cleva to Oscar & Beulah Burrows, that has a post card from THIS nursing home in it. The letter itself was signed 'Aunt Dollie'. However, I've contacted the nursing home that's at that address (as of 2002), and it's since changed hands, and they kept no records of the previous owners.
Some say......William's brother (Bert) married Dollie's sistor (Mary). I have not been able to prove or disprove that.
(Susan J. Wick, has indicated that Cleva's name is 'Cleva Susan Burrows.)
|Dunwandrin 1||RE: Burrows Family via Cleva Burrows aka Dollie Chamberlin|
Thank you for the information regarding Cleva (Dollie) Chamberlin. She's been rather difficult for me to obtain information on. I had also heard she was called 'Dollie'. One of her brothers, was my great grandfather (John Henry Burrows - whom I remember while I was a child). John's only child (Oscar Madestis Burrows) was a wealth of knowledge regarding the Burrows family/ancestors.....and I myself have accomplished a lot of research on my ancestors. Thank you again....for the additional information (some, of which I wasn't aware of)!
|Valarie Vine||Henry Jory|
I connected Henry to his mother and father, Stephan and Barbara Jory. If you like, I can transfer Henry's memorial to you. You have added wonderful old family photos! A picture of Henry with his parents would be a nice addition to his memoral.
|Linda Gose Rieck||RE: Is your Anna (Reynolds) Gose my Noah Reynolds b. 1808's sister?|
Kristie, it would allow us to fit a piece of the puzzle together very nicely if Anna and Noah were siblings, but we can't prove anything yet. We struck out once again at the Lebanon courthouse and also at the library. We have searched several times for a will and once again, nothing found. We are looking for the "Holy Grail" and will have to keep searching! The Reynolds family is proving to be our greatest challenge.. Good thing that we like a challenge!!
|Linda Gose Rieck||RE: Reynolds Family|
Kristie, we are going to Lebanon, VA, to do some research at the courthouse. We will be taking the information that you sent with us and maybe we can find something. We can't get it to match up perfectly with our tree, but there are so many duplications of the same names, surely there is a connection. Will certainly let you know what we find!!
Brush off the dust on that Gose family you were talking about! :)
|Linda Gose Rieck||Anna Reynolds Gose|
Kristie, my name is Linda Gose Rieck and Anna Reynolds Gose, b. 1804, is my 3x g-grandmother. She was married to Stephen Gose b. 1801. Her mother was Sarah Sally Pippin married to Henry Reynolds. They lived in Castlewood, Russell Co, VA. My husband and I have been able to find their homestead and also the old family cemetery up high on a wooded hilltop. I have added the three stones that are still legible to Find a Grave. I called the cemetery the Reynolds Cemetery since it seems Anna inherited the land from her father. You can go to Anna's memorial # 139961171 for information posted. I would love more information on the Reynolds family and to know how Henry & Sarah Sally Pippin Reynolds fit in with your Reynolds family. It appears from census reports that Anna had William, Noah and Sarah as siblings. We have not been able to find much on this Reynolds family. They just disappear with the exception of Anna, married to Stephen Gose.
We would certainly be cousins, and I am thrilled to find you!
|Chartand,Stumpf.Schmidt||Margaret E Dixon Connell Grantly|
Hi My name is Karen and I am the Great Great granddaughter of Mandora (Rachel Mandora) Dixon Jones. She is the sister of Margaret Dixon Connell Grantley and the daughter of Elizabeth Ferguson Dixon. I was so excited to see a photo of Margaret as I have never seen a photo of my Great Great Grandmother Mandora, or my 3x's Great Grandmother Elizabeth. Your family photo of Margaret and other photos of their brother John have really given me an idea of what she/they looked like. Do you possibly have any photos of Margaret's sister Mandora(Rachel Mandora)or her mother Elizabeth Dixon or her Father Christopher V Dixon? Or do you know of any relatives that may have them? On the 1880 Wisconsin census you can see both sisters with their husbands and children living next to each other, in the same city. Margaret married to James Connell, and above them on the census Mandora married to Riley Jones. My Great Grandmother is Orleana Jones Schmidt (On the census it is mis-spelled as Arlenia) There seem to be so many wonderful Ferguson family photos I was hoping there may be one of Elizabeth and/or her daughters. Thank you for sharing all that you have .... Karen
|Malaurie Stanley||Jim Turner|
I am related to Jim Turner. I have possible names for his siblings, but not his parents & have other info as well. I would also like to find out who is parents are. It's his mother that is said to be Cherokee Indian. Maybe the two of us can figure this out. Message me some time, firstname.lastname@example.org
|Brian K. Caudill||RE: Hello Brian|
I'm glad that I've been helpful to you in finding family. That's what it's really all about - helping each other find our family heritage. I joined Find A Grave nine months ago with plans to make Letcher County Cemeteries more complete. There are so many Letcher County cemeteries on Find A Grave (>500), but so many of them are incomplete and many of the existing memorials are missing information. I am planning a trip to Letcher County at the end of next month and I hope to be able to visit the Reynolds Family Cemetery in Seco while I'm there. My wife has relatives who live in Seco. I'm hoping that I will be able to take headstone photos while I'm there. Who knows, maybe I can make the Reynolds Family Cemetery 100% photographed.
