I am a married, retired social worker from Orange County, Vermont. I am perpetually working on my own family genealogy (Clark, Lackey, Royce branches in Vermont for now...). I am also doing a complete inventory of all graves in Strafford, Vermont. I love to take photos along the way. |
My constant companion is my Mini-Dachshund Emmett. He's quite the hunter and we are very good at ignoring signs that say 'no dogs allowed' hehehe...
I PREFER to transfer memorials (I'd rather they are in the care of family!)So don't be shy; just ask! I also do not mind forwarding photos of better resolution (If I still have them).
I do not load many stones during nice weather. I stock up for the loooong VT winter. So if you have a request off season, I will surely look though my vaults for it!
My favorite part of grave hunting is just that, searching for and finding requests for you!
I also seek to digitally preserve the stones of our Civil War Veterans and am a contributor to http://vermontcivilwar.org It's an amazing website for those of you who are enthusiasts.
The best way to thank me for fulfilling your request would be to support the memorial. You're supporting FindaGrave directly. Its only $5 a memorial and I think that's well worth the service they provide us.
In peace! Joie from South Strafford, VT

That is truly amazing that you found all of these stones still intact.Good for you for getting them as they probably will not be there much longer.
I sent you a bunch of edits.They are not mine.I just thought that one was.So one thing led to the other.

Joie, thank you for all of your work! I've seen your work for a long time now, and it has added to my family search many times. Thank goodness for the LACKEY and DUNHAM connection. Without it I may have never had the distinct pleasure to see your contributions to my research!!!
Your cousin, Warren Dunham.

|Rich M||Mary Blake|
Just noticed a mistake in my previous message. Mary Blake was in fact the daughter of Timothy Blake, not his wife.

Hi, Joie. Glad to have come upon your profile through a picture of Timothy Blake's wife Mary Blake.
I am descended from the youngest daughter of John Henry and Heborah Theodata Camber, who were part of the Blake's Gore Homesteaders in Strafford in 1787. They were my 4th Great Grandparents.
The Cambers subsequently moved to Stanstead, Quebec, Canada but have a significant history in the development of Vermont and Strafford.
The Cambers children all moved to Stanstead with their parents with the exception of Polly Camber, who married Stephen Place and stayed in Vermont.
I had the pleasure of visiting Strafford last Wednesday and visited the Strafford, Zebulon Flanders and Robinson Cemeteries. Didn't learn anything new on the Cambers, since they moved from the area, but it was a great time tracing their roots and place in Strafford and Vermont History.
I am researching the backgrounds of the 14 families that came with Timothy Blake and built Homesteads in Blake's Gore, in hopes that I will find more information on the origins of John Henry Camber.
Again, great to have found your Find a Grave profile and maybe I can pick up a bit more of my personal history by following your discoveries. If not directly, indirectly.

|Allen Norton||Request To Use Photos|
May I use your photographs in the Evergreen Cemetery for the Headstones of Seth Norton, Percy Norton and their daughter Rhoda Norton Rollins in my Ancestry.com tree? Seth Norton is my Great(3)-Grandfather and Rhoda Norton Rollins is a Great(3)-Aunt.
I have a question concerning the grave of Anna Morris. Could this possibly read Norris instead. In that grave yard is a Moses Norris # 59380465 who had a wife named Anna and I thought perhaps since the stone was not really clear that it could possibly be hers. Could you check your photo to confirm. Thank you for all of your work in photographing the grave stones.
