I'm a widow from the Atlanta area, now living in NE Alabama.
I became interested in my ancestors when a great aunt gave me some old photos. She didn't know who the people were, but there were clues on the back that I began to track down.
I'm no expert by any means, but I do love discovering new things about the family and sharing them with others.
My mother was a BUTTRILL so I'm in The Buttrill Family, a genealogy book by Louis Reid and Carrol Buttrill. Also FRETWELL, OTWELL, RICHARDSON, CRAWFORD, RILAND and DISMUKE(S). | |

I wrote you about Martha Jane Hightower Brown in Walton Co Ga (Brown Cemetery)
I have now done the research-and still think I have the right people. I did all the Census for 1900 for George-since both were alive then- and all the others in Walton were much younger-4 or 5. The last census he was in-I don't know who gave the information, but dtr Martha was still with them-Still single. And someone gave his age as 77 instead of born Jan 1823 instead of 1840-following with all census- he was born 1840-all others that is. I don't know who did the stone-but I still think it is wrong. Hi, sorry I'm just getting back to you...was out of town last week. The above recently died and I was going to create a memorial for her, but noticed that she already had one...only it didn't have her death date. I have her obit but can't add it since you created the memorial. If you don't mind, transfer the memorial to me and I'll add it, or if you want me to send the obit to you, just let me know.

I corrects the spelling it was a type-o. My fathers sister was married to Cleo Theodore Harrison Otwell. She would be his 2nd cousin 1x removed.

Hi Judy:
My name is Gael Elinor Buttrill Elliston, and I am the daughter of Carrol O. Buttrill who was one of the authors of the Buttrill family book. I am trying to place Thomas back in "England" where he was born in 1743. I found a note from someone that stated that through family lore, he arrived in the US in 1775 which means there should be some record of him in England. However, when I Google him and go to the records sites, I cannot find him or his parents or where he may have been born. Do you have any information on him?
