Since retiring in 2000 I have undertaken the task of locating graves of as many descendants as possible.
(1) Of my mother's oldest ancestor, Jonathan Whilden, who entered Charleston 1695.
Whilden, although, essentially an unknown name now, played a historical part in the Civil War from relaying the order to fire the 1st shot of the war to leading the defense at The Bloody Angle-Spottsylvania Courthouse.
(2) Of my fathers oldest ancestor, who entered Charleston 1768 with his family from Killyleagh, County Down, Northern Ireland. Many of these migrated west to Georgia, Alabama, & Texas.
As indicated I retired in 2000, live in SC, have a wonderful wife of 52 years, 2 children and 2 grandchildren that like all grands I love to be obnoxious about.
Will gladly take pictures for any looking in this area.

William Inman
Hi. I did check for William Inman in the Duncan Cemetery and did not see his gravestone. There are many Inmans in this area. In Row 3 there was a David Inman 1855-1922 and Mary 1860-1938. / Another was Inman Zella 1881-1965 and Henry 1879-1941. Could he have went by a middle name?....If I can be of any further assistance please email me!

RE: duplicates-calvary memorial-laurens
I'm not arguing or blaming you on it. I agree with you, it's not a competition, but the dupes need to be taken care of. The other person could say the same thing.. They did the work of putting the memorial up, several years before you did, but linked it to the wrong cemetery. One of you needs to consolidate, or the admins will. I'm asking, and giving the opportunity, for you two to work it out between yourselves.

I was out at that cemetery today, and got another 50 or so graves documented and photographed. There's still quite a few more. I'd say 200, easily. If you want to go out there and document some.. Go for it. I'll even tell you where I left off. The 'new' section should be fully documented and the first 2 rows (from the driveway) or so of the older section. The driveway being the dividing line between old and new. All I ask, if you go out and document, tell me where you leave off. I was only able to work about an hour and a half out there in the heat and sun today.

Once that's done, I'm sure i'll find more that are dupes from the other Calvary that are in the wrong cemetery. I'll ask that person, and yes, I am aware of that person and share your opinion of them, to correct the location and then i'll delete my memorial and move my pics over. Mainly because that person includes obits (though without sources, which is a violation of policy) and it's simple for me to move the pics over and I really don't want to admin the memorials. But, as you know, it's very important to document cemeteries like that one because there are a fair number of graves that never get permanently marked. One inattentive lawn mower and the grave site is lost.

RE: duplicates-calvary memorial-laurens
I'd recommend coordinating with the maintainer of the original memorial.

F-A-G policy is as follows

It'd be best for you and the other person who has the memorial to work it out, otherwise, it will fall to Admins to make the call.

I do get where you're coming from. I've been to that cemetery and it's a mess. It's probably 10% documented and most of the reason for that is that many folks are buried there in unmarked graves. Plus, the other person creating memorials on here has been pretty consistently placing people in the wrong cemetery due to the similar names. But duplicate memorials are not the answer.

Infant Daughter & Infant Son of Hugh Agurs & Maude Drennan

Discovered that there are duplicate memorials for these infants.

Infant son Drennan #60040939 DOD 7/27/1926 & Infant son #60040942 DOD 7/26/1926 BOTH created by Janine MCQuiston & both entered on 10/13/2010. I've sent Janine an e-mail asking that she delete the 1 that doesn't have a grave marker photo.

So, in addition to Janine's Infant son memorials shown above, you also added 1 for Infant son Drennan with DOD 7/27/1926 #76146576 but added at a later date of 9/7/2011. As you know, F-A-G guidelines for duplicates state the memorial created first stays so this 1 needs to be removed.

Infant daughter Drennan #76146513 & #76146519 both created by you on 9/7/2011 also need to be removed. Janine McQuiston created Infant daughter Drennan #60041007 on 10/13/2010 so by F-A-G guidelines the first memorial created stays.

It's very easy to have a duplicate happen. Thank you for all your volunteer work on F-A-G. It's a wonderful thing you are doing to preserve these grave sites.
