Bio Photo SPECIAL NOTE:

Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.

*******************************************

This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!

This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old stones.....to preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into dust...like so many already have...

***AN IMPORTANT NOTE***

I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.

Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.

I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".

This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.

This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.

An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......

In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

RE: St. Mary's Lancaster...
Just an after thought.. St. Mary's cemetery caretakers asked me if I had any "before" photo's of the stones that have since been raised. Your photo of the fallen Nicholas Bloch stone may be a perfect example of what they're looking for. Let me know if I'd be able to download that photo, add your name and copyright to it if in fact, the cemetery would like to use it for one of their examples. It's absolutely no hurry. I have a hard time catching them on the job due to my work schedule so I didn't run into them often. Thanks Donna!

RE: St. Mary's Lancaster...
Small world that two of us were writing to you on the same day about the same person - and I didn't know it at the time because I couldn't remember the name! I checked the database I have and the only Bloch listed in it is Nicholas. Both Michael and Catherine Harter are in it. The database I have has over 10,000 entries - not necessarily 10,000 different people, but entries. Lots of duplicates, and then there are a lot of omissions. I'm creating a list of the monuments I've photographed that are not in the database at all so they can be added. Have a Wonderful Easter, I'm sure we'll talk again soon and thank you for all the edits for the Bagley's. They're quite the bunch! Kathi

RE: St. Mary's Lancaster...
I'd be happy to help. I uploaded a photo of a recently uprighted monument in St. Mary's and you had created the original memorial and noted "4th great grandfather". I can't remember who it was. Do you remember who your 4th great grandfather is in there? Happy Easter - get some sleep :) Kathi

Nicholas Bloch
Hi Donna,

My sister Pat and I went to St. mary's Cemetery in Lancaster, NY and were so surprised and excited to find Nicholas' Grave Marker standing on a firm foundation instead of lying flat on the ground with grass growing over the edges. We took pictures while there and I was going to share tem with you but noticed you already have the picture on His memorial. We also found Sabastians Bloch (Blake's gravestone put back together all by the top. I didn't look to see if you had that one or not. Sorry I couldn't e-mail you My c'omputer crashed and I lost some of my contacts. that's what I get for having everything on the computer and not everything backed up. Would like to meet with you again when we are in New York this summer.

sincerely,

Norma Blake Christie

Bagley(s) Lancaster Rural
Hi Donna :)
I've put through an edit for Emeline Bagley-Peckham #27137595 to correct the spelling of her maiden name. It is spelled wrong on her monument as Baglery. You don't have to change it if you chose not to. She is another sibling to all those Bagley girls who are buried in that incredible "mound" with the horizontal slate monument. I've found her Mother (Phila) and a brother (Lebbeus) in the same cemetery (different section) and just listed them. I found her father in MI. One big family! Thanks.

RE: John and Margaret Campbell
Donna, Thank you for the update of the memorial. I don't need to be in control of it. I'm just happy it is on line.
Thanks again, Bev
