Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy for more than 20 years. I travel by motor home with husband all over the country and love to visit cemeteries to see how many family names I can find, DURHAM, MORRIS, PROWS, ASH, EDDY,RICHMOND, LANE, CHASTAIN for a few. I am a Florida snowbird in the winter so try when I can to add photos as Find A Grave has helped me many, many times so I enjoy giving back.

This is my step-grandfather...I know that sounds funny but he was married to my father mother, Laura Patterson. He was a wonderful and kind man.

I'm so greatful for all the work you have done on this site. I just wished I could find my grandmother listed, I was told she is baried at Tol Martin Cemetery??

Martha Thomas Turner Holland
Hello Cindy,
I received an e-mail from Donna S.., in which she asked why I'd chosen to list the middle name of Bessie T. Holland as Thomas, rather than Thompson as it reads on her headstone
(see Find A Grave # 131690269) in Ancestry.Com. I sent her an attachment of Bessie's mother's death certificate and noted that her name is recorded as Martha Thomas Turner Holland. Donna sent me the following information on Martha's Find A Grave Memorial #127997970 and suggested a change or two to the Memorial which you may wish to make based on the following information:

I noticed when I looked at her mother's memorial - it is listed wrong. The correct death date is March 31, 1947. I checked with the funeral records @ Whaley Funeral Home. You can go towww.harrisoncountyky.us and on the beginning page choose "Funeral Records" then choose "Smith-Rees & Whaley Funeral Homes" Then choose "H" and scroll down to "Holland" - Martha Thomas - has date of death as March 31, 1947 buried at Battle Grove.

The death certificate does repeat the year several places on the death certificate - all being 1947.

It also has birthdate as Feb 16, 1880 which I think is correct - not 1870. The 1880 census shows her with parents: Pierce and Sarah and siblings,Minnie B, 11, Sarah, 9,Francis M, 7, Martin L. 6 and Martha T. as 4 - probably supposed to be 4 months.

1870 Census has Pierce listed as Hiram P, age 18 with his parents, Richard and Elizabeth and siblings: Richard T, 23, Rebecca J, 16 and Sarah E ( I think his wife) and a baby Ida B 1/12 - must be Minnie B??? But there is no Martha Thomas Turner in that family - in 1870.

Elaine and I are working as service missionaries in the FamilySearch Library in Riverton, Utah. We are enjoying every minute of this genealogical adventure as we spend these hours helping folks trace their ancestors.

Best Wishes - Mike Prows

Hey Girl
RE: Elizabeth Muncy Hardin
Cindy, if you like I would be glad to help you search. I couldn't find them in my tree.
Send basic information and I'll take a stab at it.

I found my husband's family. They came through the Gap with a team of Oxen pulling their worldly goods.

Most Kentucky settlers came through the Cumberland Gap, natures passage, the Gap lies between Kentucky, Tennessee and Virgina.
Our Kentucky was part of Commonwealth of Virginia, we were one of their counties,we got our name, The Commonwealth of Kentucky from them.

If you haven't read the history of the Gap, you may want too. It's very interesting and informative.

Look forward to hearing from you.
