www.cem.va.gov/hmm/ This site will walk you through the steps to getting a govt. issue tombstone. Be advised that you furnish everything they require or your efforts will turn to frustration !!! They would not furnish a tombstone for S.D. Hanna because of the war service proof was not to their liking,so the members of our Prospect Camp funded it ourselves. Good Luck !

You are welcome for the search at the cemetery. The only one that even comes close was that headstone with Austin on it. It wasn't an upright stone, it was almost like a low lying block of granite. There were no dates, names or initials on the stone, other than the surname and Father...Mother. There were some unmarked spaces near that stone, so what you suggested could be totally correct. He may very well be in an unmarked grave. There seems to be quite a few of those in that cemetery too.
Sorry that my search was not more successful.

|Wayne||re: Sarah Baxley Thompson memorial #38006132|
I saw your memorial page on her today and I see on your profile that you have listed Baxley family under Virtual Cemeteries but you have no entries in it. Sarah was the sister of my gg-grandfather William James Baxley, whose family (my side) left for Florida with his widow after he died during the Civil War. I have his page and many of his descendents which you might like to see in my Wayne's family Virtual Cemetery. Would like to touch bases with you, so I will send you an email today. Thanks, Wayne
