This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!
This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old stones.....to preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into dust...like so many already have...
***AN IMPORTANT NOTE***
I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.
Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.
I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".
This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.
This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.
An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......
In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

 | John Hair/Alden Cemetery John Hair (1806-1884) was my great grand uncle. I would like your permission to copy and use the photo of his headstone from NY Find A Grave.
This will be used in my personal family tree. Currently it is not online, but in the future it may be So the permission requested would be for both uses.
I can be reached at elizabethcoste@bellsouth.net
Thank you | | | Fran Bumann
 | RE: gravestone at Forest Lawn, Buffalo, NY I certainly wouldn't ask you to go a ways to check this out. I was really hoping that the photo or information was already at hand, along with the rest of the Becker and Klingenmeier info.
Thanks for your interest and good work on FindAGrave. It is a boon to us researchers who live far away from some of the places our ancestors lived.

 | RE: gravestone at Forest Lawn, Buffalo, NY Yes, I am fairly sure Eugenia married, but that she is buried near her parents at the cemetery - and since I see that piece of a stone in front of Charles Becker's stone, and he had a daughter Eugenia, I think it is possibly her.
Charles' wife was Ida Bochmann. Ida's father was the older brother of my husband's great-grandfather.
I have a possible married name for Eugenia of Wegener, but that is very suppositional. Thought the headstone might verify or refute for me.
Thanks, Fran | | | Fran Bumann
 | gravestone at Forest Lawn, Buffalo, NY There is a photo of the headstone of our relative Charles J. Becker on your find-a-grave site. In the foreground there is another partial photo of a headstone for Eugenia. This is Charles' daughter. However, I cannot find her in the search through Forest Lawn. Do you have a more complete photo so we can see the data thereon?

 | RE: Amos Mead Thanks so much if you get over there. No hurry, I suppose! I checked some of your other pics from other cemeteries and they are showing up. Strange, indeed! | | | Lisa Davis
 | RE: Amos Mead Hi Donna, Thanks so much for the transfer! I was so excited to find Abigail's first husband and then couldn't see the picture of his stone. But I'll put in another request and maybe someone can go take another. I appreciate your time, effort and help with getting the Dory line back together again! Lisa | | | Caren
